[Yeah, I know it's a little early for this (at least for Americans...it's late for Canadians =P), but this has been floating around in my head for about a week now and I had to get it out. Anyone's free to respond! Alfred posted up a note at the World Conference Center basically inviting everyone, so... XD] [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=valign,top][atrb=style, background: url(http://oi50.tinypic.com/do198w.jpg) center bottom no-repeat; outline: 0px solid #000000; width: 518px; height: 648px; padding: 0px;, bTable]
A delightful aroma greeted all who entered through the door to Alfred's home. Alfred rarely cooked meals at his home. It was much easier to just warm something up in the microwave, or to pick something up at one of the many fast food establishments that he frequented. It wasn't that he didn't appreciate home cooking - far from it, in fact! He just rarely wanted to take the time to cook it, and thus relied on something quick and easy. Holidays were some of the very few exceptions, and none more so than Thanksgiving.
Alfred went all out when it came to Thanksgiving. Not only did he cook his own food (though usually with help from Danii and/or someone else, as it was a lot of cooking), but he hunted his own turkeys. Turkeys in the plural this year, as he planned on having several more guests than usual. He invited the other nations over, and while he did not expect all of them to show up, he knew that at least some would. Free food, after all!
To allow the turkeys some time to cook (and to give himself a rest period), Alfred was currently taking a break from his duties in the kitchen to make sure everything was set up around the house. In particular, he made sure that the TV was turned to the channel that the football game was on. He passed Tony as the alien was on the way to his bedroom in the basement, the alien pausing to look at him as he passed.
"Sure you don't wanna eat with us?" He asked his buddy.
The alien shook his head. Alfred grinned, knowing why Tony was opting to go to bed so early.
"Gotta make sure you're awake for the sales at midnight, right?"
The alien nodded. "Bargains, bitch."
Alfred laughed. "Alright dude. I might come with you, I might not, depends on how tired I am by midnight. Don't blast anyone with laser guns this year, alright? We almost had a national security incident last year. Good thing we were able to pass off that guy's testimony as Black Friday hysteria, or we might have been in trouble."
The alien looked at Alfred with a mutinous expression. Alfred met the alien's expression with one of his own, even adding a raised eyebrow for effect. The two continued to stare, before the alien finally sighed, and, with a roll of his eyes, nodded. Alfred's grin returned. "Awesome! Have a good nap, Tony!"
With that over, Alfred checked in the dining room. There were two large tables set up. Alfred wasn't sure how many people to expect, or if the tables would be enough to accommodate everyone. Not that he was too worried. If worse came to worse, there were always TV trays. Alfred re-entered the kitchen after this, wiping a bit of sweat off of his forehead. With all of the food cooking in the kitchen, it was warm. Alfred peeked into the oven to make sure the turkeys were holding up nicely, before looking in the refrigerator. He couldn't help but laugh as he noted the vegetable trays he had sitting in there. Those were sure to give a few nations, especially the ones who thought he only subsisted on fast food, a shock. It was true that Alfred often failed to follow the nutritional guidelines set up by his own FDA. However, he didn't consider veggies to be the root of all evil like some seemed to think. They just usually weren't a big part of his diet, given his penchant for quick and easy meals.
The blond closed the refrigerator when he heard a noise at the door. That must be one of his first guests! "COME IN!" Alfred shouted in his characteristically loud voice, staying in the kitchen as he started to work on mashing up the potatoes in a large bowl.

Post by Danii C. Washington (D.C) on Oct 26, 2012 6:39:18 GMT -5
[cent "You jerk, you started without me!" Danii yelled as she opened the door, she could smell the food from where she stood, attempting to close the door with her foot while balancing a large ham, some home made apple pies that she was going to commandeer his oven for to finish baking, and a giant tub of potato salad. Danii loved potato salad after all. The blonde couldn't really see over all of the stuff she was carrying, and had to crane her neck to the side just to make sure she wasn't stepping on anything as she made her way to the kitchen. Shoving the stuff in her arms onto whatever free counter space she could find Danii let out a sigh, turned on her heels and went back out to her car to get a few more pies, these instead where pumpkin and cherry, "I got more pies!" One could never have enough pie after all, especially for Thanksgiving, "I think I'm forgetting something," She was talking more to herself then anything else, frowning a little as she looked at all the stuff she had just brought in. When she determined that she wasn't going to remember what that thing was Danii let it go, in favor of hanging up her jacket and jumping on Al to give him a hug. "Happy Thanksgiving Al!" The capital practically chirped, squeezed him before letting go and setting off on the mission of finding a serving bowl big enough for the ton of potato salad that she had brought, "Hey did you start makin' the gravy yet? Cause if you didn't I totally wanna start making the gravy," She had a mean recipe for gravy with bacon and onion that she hadn't had a chance to try out yet, so she started prepping just in case, "Oh! Tony joining in or is he goin' to bed early again?" She had yet to forget that particular panic the alien had caused last time, Danii had found it pretty damn funny, everyone else though, not so much. It wasn't all that surprising - It was a very rare occasion when all fifty states were actually there at once. If Michelle recalled correctly, the last time was in 2001, shortly after 9/11. This year was apparently a different year overall, however. Not only were the usual states and cities invited, but apparently Alfred left a note at the World Conference Center inviting other nations. Michelle thought it was too good an opportunity to be missed.
The state pulled on a nice shirt and dress pants, wanting to look nice yet not over the top. It was hard to find clothes that did not have some sort of grease or oil stain on them from her many experiences working on cars, but she usually kept a few to the side for just such special occasions. She made sure to set out fairly early, deciding to drive out to Alfred's home on the east coast rather than fly. Not that she had anything against flying, but she had the Motor City. Of course she preferred driving wherever she could!
By the time she arrived in his driveway, she was surprised to see that she was one of the first to arrive. Alfred's car was there (she smiled when she saw that it was a Ford Mustang - At least she could count on him to stick with the Big Three), as was Danii's. No other states, cities, or even nations were in sight, though that didn't mean that they weren't already inside of the house. She figured most of the nations took taxis from the airport anyway.
She climbed out of her own car, bringing her dish with her. She'd opted to bring venison sausage to go with the meal. Balancing the large dish carefully in one hand, she pushed open the door with her other hand, venturing into the house. She took off her hat, clothes, and gloves at the door before heading into the kitchen where she could hear voices, letting out a refreshing sigh. Just as she'd thought. Alfred and Danii were already there, getting everything ready.
"I would have gotten here earlier, but I wanted to make sure I caught all of the Lions game." She admitted, setting her dish down in one of the few empty areas that she could find. She walked up to Alfred and threw her arms around her country in a hug. Then she pulled away quickly and returned her attention to Danii. "Hey Danii! Bet you guys are glad elections are over, aren't you?" She stated conversationally. [/style] |

Post by ERIN "IRELAND" PATRICK on Oct 30, 2012 14:18:11 GMT -5
Just give me those plain hot potatoes And I'll be well satisfied... [/b][/color] ERIN “IRELAND” PATRICK[/size][/b] ====================================[/center][/color] 2012 [/b] ====================================
[/color] She had no reason to be here. None at all. She wasn’t American. She wasn’t Canadian. She was blatantly Irish and found this holiday to be laughable...but it was important to Alfred. There were several prospects that drew her in however. Thanksgiving from what she understood was a holiday about food. Silly Americans (or Canadians) gathered together to eat food and drink...things (hopefully alcohol) and have yummy pies. Hell, Mattie and Alfred had even failed to synchronize the damn holiday. Clearly its legitimacy was lacking. But at least there was food and drink to be had. It could be called a party of sorts, so Erin found herself wandering in the front door. God she hoped there were potatoes....
She was immediately assaulted by the smell. Was Alfred himself cooking? Did Alfred know how to cook? She couldn’t recall. The holiday hadn’t existed back when she had dated Alfred, and she certainly hadn’t been here when it was being celebrated. She tried to remember if he had cooked during any holiday back in the late 1840s when she had stayed here with him for half a decade. It was a while ago, but she couldn’t recall if he had cooked any of the meals. He may have...she mostly just remembered the sex and a flash of anger at the end.
Erin sniffed lightly in the doorway before slipping out of her shoes and leaning her suitcase against the wall. She picked up the smell of cooking bird...whether Turkey or chicken she’d never know the difference. She knew that thanksgiving meant Turkey so she assumed that was the smell. It was a nice smell too...Hopefully it would be served with Potatoes.
Erin dropped her shoulder bag with a thump (she’d brought her own alcohol just in case) and wandered into the living room, just missing Alfred, said a brief “Hey Tony” before continuing through the house. She knew it front to back by now, after so many years of unannounced visits. She wandered into the kitchen, setting the third bag, a nasty sized thing on the table. It held the contents to make apple pie shots. People brought food to thanksgiving celebrations, Erin brought alcohol to all celebrations...apparently even ones she didn’t celebrate.
After the loud thump, Erin took in the three figures in the kitchen. She recognized one as Alfred’s capital...the other she wasn’t sure who it was. Did it matter? She skimmed over the kitchen and her eyes widened with delight at the sight of the potatoes being mashed, and then even larger at the sight of the potato salad. She had made the right choice. American thanksgiving at Alfred’s was the place to be tonight...
”Hey Al. I dumped my suitcase by the door, I am staying a week or so...then I’ll hop a flight home. I brought stuff to make a new shot! I Googled it just for the occasion!!”
[/b] She started pulling out bottles of alcohol and apple cider. ”It’s been a while Danii...And...I don’t believe we have met. I’m Erin...”[/b] she introduced to Michelle...tacking on ”Ireland.. as if in easy explanation. Erin continued eyeing the potatoes as she made for the pots, ”Mind if I borrow the stovetop? I have to boil the cider a bit and strain out the chunkies...”[/b] she inquired, not waiting for a response and just getting to it anyway. Erin rarely cared for proper courtesies. In Alfred’s house even less so. She tended to just make herself at home.[/size][/blockquote][/blockquote][/color] ==================================== [/color] Tag --- Everyone! Surely, her boss would be a bit ballistic if he finds out she was not in her post and ran off just because there's 'free food' as someone told her.
So, why in seven blazes of Hell is Shanghai here again?
Because America said she can, that's why.
"Maybe I should have brought something else, aru."
Adjusting her short-sleeved, orange chinese dress with one hand while the other holding a basket of fruits, the twin-bun Chinese pouted as she watched someone enter America's home, hiding behind the bushes as if waiting till she went inside before she, too, let herself in. Usually, if it was China, he would have just pulled her out from her usual habit of hiding and stalking someone till she is safe to do what she needs to do when no one's looking, but she's on her own and she wasn't even sure if he's aware where she went off. Yep, it was clearly an understatement that Chen Zhang is ditching her boss just to attend some nation's event.
"Aiya~ What the hell am I doing?"
Jumping out from the bushes, the orange-haired city scrunched her nose a bit, debating if she would do it in a formal manner or just screw formalities and just open the door and say she was 'invited'. It took her a little while before she decided that, perhaps, a little modesty is in need. Besides, she's not just some Chinese country, she's one of the oldest cities and she serves Wang Yao! At least give the guy a credit and not act like a brat.
"Here we go!" Walking towards the front door, Shanghai took a deep breath before knocking the door, waiting patiently for anyone to answer it while looking both directions if she's the only one around. She wasn't exactly a shy city- a bit too flashy compared to most, as some would say- but Shanghai wasn't exactly the most social either so no surprise how she tend to be a bit baffled that she is here in the first place. Could be worse, she told herself with another pout.

Post by Lewis "Niagara Falls" Kalm on Nov 20, 2012 14:43:56 GMT -5
Instead of arriving on his own, Lewis had to hitch a ride to Alfred's home for Thanksgiving. There was no way he was going to miss his nation's Thanksgiving dinner, there was no doubt about that! Especially not when other nations were supposed to be coming. Thanksgiving dinner were usually entertaining anyway, but with other nations there, it was bound to be a riot.
The fact that other nations, cities, and states were invited also meant that his brother was invited this year. It wasn't as though Lou was forbidden from coming any other time, but maybe he'd feel a bit less out of place this year if he came too. He knew that his brother didn't celebrate Thanksgiving the same time he did. It was something that the twins often teased each other about. Lou would insist that Thanksgiving was supposed to be celebrated in October, and Lew would stand by the November celebrations. His nation always did it this way, and this was the way he was going to keep celebrating it! And he knew Lou and his nation would continue celebrating it in October. It was just the way it was.
Still, he hoped that Lou would be able to stop by the American celebration. Lewis tried to accompany Lou to Canadian Thanksgiving celebrations when he could. It was sometimes a challenge. The two were twins and tried to do everything together, but they were cities from two different nations no matter how close they were. Sometimes that meant having to do things separately. Thankfully, it wasn't much of a problem, considering Matthew and Alfred usually got along just fine nowadays (most of their points of contention happening before Lew and Lou were even established as cities). Alfred was fine with Lewis attending Canadian celebrations with Louis (and would sometimes pop in on them himself to say hello to his brother), and was equally fine with Lew bringing Lou along to American celebrations.
The city was lurking near the door. He hoped that his brother would walk through it at any moment. Unfortunately, he had yet to see his brother's face. He did get a good glimpse of everyone who showed up so far though, which was a bonus. The first two to arrive weren't anyone out of the ordinary - Danii and Michelle, Washington D.C. and Michigan respectively. The next to arrive, though, was another nation. Lew grinned at the green hair. "How'd you get your hair that color? I want hair like that!" He didn't realize that it was natural...but hey, he could easily dye his hair as well. He would consult with Lou before doing such a thing, though - He wanted to make sure that Lou and he agreed on a color before doing anything drastic.
Lew heard another knock at the door, and went running for the door at once. Was that Lou? He hoped it would be Lou! It was strange that he knocked if it was Lou though. Lewis opened the door nonetheless, his face falling slightly when he saw that it wasn't his brother. The grin returned when he saw that she'd brought a basket of fruit. "Hey, who are you? And yay, you brought food!" His slight New York accent pegged him as clearly American, seeing no reason to hide it when he wasn't trying to confuse people into thinking that he was his Canadian brother.

Thanksgiving was in October. OCTOBER! But Lewis celebrated in November, and so did Alfred. So Lou would be nice and celebrate with them, like Lew always celebrated with him. Plus, it made for two thanksgivings in one year. All the other Canadian and American fools who only celebrated one were missing out on a second reason to stuff their faces with pie, cake, candy and other sugary goodness. Lou didn’t care about the turkey, and cared even less for the vegetables...he just wanted the sweets.
Lou of course, was coming to the dinner at Alfred’s. Lewis was going to be there and naturally that meant so was Lou. He wondered if Matthew would show up, but didn’t put too much thought into it. His mind was on sugar and yummy treats that would be there waiting for him. Louis didn’t wait for someone to open the door when he arrived. He got in after everyone else, knocking and walking. Lou had brought with him a box that contained something hidden from sight for the moment. He had brought something distinctly Canadian. He had with him approximately 60 butter tarts. He loovveeeddd Butter tarts!!
Once Lou got inside he plopped the box down. ”LEWIS!! I BROUGHT MORE DESSERT~!” [/b] he hollered through the house, his accent distinctly Canadian. He was loud enough to guarantee he’d be heard throughout the house. He quickly popped his head in the nearest door... ”Lewis...you here?”[/b] he asked the room. Lou didn’t wait long for a response and picked up the box, bringing his homemade butter tarts to the hallway, but he didn’t make it past the hallway. He left the box there as he proceeded to follow his nose toward a delightful smell. It was a combination of smells. They smelled lovely. He hoped there was pie...and cake...and pastries! ”What smells good...”[/b] he said more to himself than to anyone else as he finally found the kitchen and the gathering inside of it. His eyes widened at the numbers. The numbers wasn’t the people. The numbers was the food. Lou’s eyes wandered dish to dish to dish. He only lingered for moments over the healthier foods, but even those non-desserts gave him a reason to pause and watch. However, it was the pies his eyes locked on as he wandered silently closer but stopped himself after a few steps. ”I brought some dessert too!”[/b] he announced quite proudly before realizing he had left the box of tarts in the hallway. You couldn’t blame the poor boy, he got distracted... [/div] TAG: Everyone WORDS: 428 OUTFIT: Blue Jeans, Green Converse and a Niagara Falls novelty T-Shirt that doesn’t specify which Niagara Falls. [You guys can still go ahead and post even if you haven't joined yet. I just thought I'd toss up another Al post. =P] [f; As expected, the guests started coming in almost immediately. Danii was the first to surprise, which did not surprise Alfred in the least - and she brought more food! "Hey, the turkeys needed some time to cook!" Alfred said in his defense, a grin spreading across his face. Danii always rought food with her, as did the states and cities occasionally, but eh wondered if any of the others would bring items. It was in no way a necessity - It wasn't even listed on the invitation - but it would make for an even more diverse menu than usual. The staples would be there, though. He was not about to have a Thanksgiving without turkey, pumpkin pie, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and all of the other usual trimmings. Alfred hugged Danii when she hugged him, making sure not to squish her. Then again, she was his capital. She was pretty resilient. Even with what happened in 1812, she bounced back quickly. Still - He couldn't say he wanted to accidentally send someone to the hospital with injuries on Thanksgiving. "Tony went to bed. He wanted to get some shut eye before the sales start. Told him to settle down on the lasers this time." He chuckled to himself as he continued to mash the potatoes in the bowl. He set the bowl down when he noticed another familiar face entering the room, welcoming one of his states with open arms. "Michelle! Yep, sure am. I love the democratic process, but man, things get crazy right before elections." He gave her a light squeeze (again careful not to squeeze her guts out) and a light pat on the back. "Gravy's all yours, D.C." He shot her a thumbs up before turning as a thump resonated through the kitchen. "Erin!" He greeted with a large grin. The first non-American to arrive at the dinner. He wasn't all that surprised - It could be considered a party of sorts, and Erin was never one to be late to a party. She likely brought party favors as well, as she confirmed with her next comment. Apple pie shots? The young nation was licking his lips already! He didn't show much reaction to Erin's announcement that she would be crashing at his place for a week - It was par for the course. When Erin came over, she stayed a while. It was just a fact of life, and one that Alfred had no problem with. "Have at it!" Alfred responded, gesturing to the stove. "Just make sure you leave a little room for Danii to make the gravy. I'll have to get the butter in the back soon, but y'all should be fine right now." He set the bowl down as he heard a knock on the door, and peeked around the corner, letting out a shout. "COME ON IN!" He called out again, not even sure who it was. He knew one of the Niagara Falls twins was recently dropped off, but as he heard a familiar young voice calling out for 'Lewis', he realized that the other twin had shown up at some point as well. Though the comment was not directed at him, Alfred chose to respond to Lou nonetheless. "WOOHOO! MORE DESSERT!" When Lou walked into the kitchen, Alfred held out a hand for the Canadian city to give him a high five. After, Alfred rubbed his hands together before heading back to his prior task. Everything was underway, and the guests were starting to come in steadily. Deeming the mashed potatoes ready for seasoning, Alfred started to add in salt, pepper, milk...and the butter, of course! Post by Johnny "New York" Amsterdam on Nov 22, 2012 12:30:55 GMT -5
: It wasn't unusual that Johnny found himself running somewhat late. He was New York, and therefor had to make that fashionably late impression where ever he went......or at least that was what he liked to say. In reality Johnny had left at a decent time, but as per usual, the man had gotten stuck in traffic, yes, the reason New York was always fashionably late wasn't that he just liked to make an entrance, it was that he was always stuck in traffic forever and a day. It was very hard to not get out of the car, pick it up and walk it over everyone else, but the last time he had done something like that, it had definitely been frowned upon. And so instead he chain smoked on his cigarettes, propped his cheek on his hand, leaning on the door and watched as Theo fiddled with the radio. Then fiddled with it some more, then fiddled with it again and damnit he liked that song. Johnny had to keep from banging his head on the window in his increasing agitation, he hated traffic. Hated it. Hated it. Hated it, "Theo! Just put on da ipod or somethin'!" He was tired of hearing static, semi static, and when they broke to give a traffic update that everything on the Washington bridge was congested, he almost punched the radio in altogether. News he could have used ten minutes ago. Eventually they got through the traffic, and it was just in time too as Theo had abandoned messing with the radio in favor of poking him. Johnny loved the kid, Theodore was clearly his favorite, the apple of his eye, but he was ready to push him out of the vehicle when he started with the poking, and the question, and the poking with more poking. By the time they made it to Al's place, Johnny was swearing he would never travel on a holiday ever again, but he said this every year and every year they did this, every last freakin' year. Looked like a few people were already there, getting out Johnny grabbed a large container from the backseat, filled with cheesecake and cheesecake and more cheesecake, he must have had at least twenty of them in there, with different toppings on each, "Oi! Theo, grab da lobsters yeah?" He had a bunch of lobsters in the backseat to make Lobster Newberg with, something that had to be made there for the best taste. Letting himself inside with a grin on his face and a little star hanging beside his head, "Hey guys, New York and New York are here wit da cheesecakes! We can get dis party started," Johnny found a place to put the container with the cheesecake, ran back out to the car to get a few bottles of cognac and sherry and some Cheyenne peppers he had brought with him. "Lewis, 'ey dere kiddo," He ruffled the kids hair, Johnny felt like he never got to talk to Lewis enough, but he loved all the cities in his state very much, even if Theo seemed to be favorite, "Al! My main man, I brought da goods, gonna make some Lobster Newberg, ya gonna love it," Johnny said and gave his country a man hug, hearty pat on the back and everything, bear hugged Danii and rounded on Michelle, "Michi! I still ain't happy with you, but I love ya anyway," He was referring to, of course, the Detroit Tigers sweeping the Yankee's in the post season, "Erin, lookin' good, been a while yeah? Ya outta visit more," He gave her a kiss on the cheek and waved at Chen, "Shanghai right? Wait till ya try da cheesecake," [style=padding: 0px 10px; font-size: smaller;] Date: Present! Hated the excruciating monotony of staring out at the same view for what seemed now as though it had been a lifetime; a view that was hidden from view by a seemingly endless stream of other cars, at that, as though to add further insult to injury. And to make matters worse, the combination of the ever-increasing excitement at the prospect of spending another holiday at Alfred's house, combined with consuming far too many energy drinks before he and Johnny had virtually crammed the boot full of varied cheesecakes and lobster, was making him restless. And as he fidgeted in his seat, tapped the glass of the window absently and hummed incessantly to himself, restlessness soon became impatience, and it wasn't long before the boy was almost literally bouncing off the walls of the confined space as he twiddled relentlessly with the radio in search of nothing in particular. This action was ceased immediately, however, when Johnny's irritated snap resounded throughout the car. "Battery's dead," he stated simply after something of a brief hesitation, having been slightly taken aback by his tone of voice. Damn Temple Run and it's addictiveness, for now he would have to endure whatever garbage the radio decided to regurgitate at him. After what seemed like eternity of pressing his face against the window until the slightly disturbed expression of the passenger seated on the other side of the glass became almost impossible to ignore, an overly exaggerated grin spread across his features as he persisted instead to poke Johnny and utter the dreaded line that would undoubtedly haunt the man's dreams for weeks to come almost relentlessly, that was, quite unsurprisingly, "Are we there yet?" And he saw the rising frustration in the man, for the most part completely immune as he merely carried on until the destination was in clear sight, and it was the least he could do not to, quite literally, leap from the confinements of said moving car, hesitating only to shoot Johnny something that vaguely resembled a mockingly upset face at the mention of the seafood. "But I wanted to get the cheesecake...." he whined, prolonging the final syllable considerably longer than generally needed as he followed behind with lobsters in tow regardless, his grin widening (if that was even humanly possible by the point), considerably more as he stepped over the threshold. Glancing over momentarily to Johnny as to ensure the safe delivery of his beloved cheesecakes, or rather, the cheesecakes that he had helped to make, and so had claimed to be his before the batter had so much as reached the dessert tin, Theo otherwise wasted no time in discarding the seafood on the kitchen counter and encasing all those who happened to be present in something of a brief bear hug. Except for, of course, Michigan, who he regarded with something that partly resembled a pout and an unblinking stare that would've sent a chill down any other person's spine, before returning to the kitchen to meet Lou and Al once more, making his presence known by virtually yelling in Alfred's ear, "HEY, GUYS! GUESS WHAT? GUESS WHAT? GUESS--" The boy hesitated momentarily, frowning ever so slightly as he struggled to find a reason for his incessant chatter, "WE GOT CHEESECAKE!"[style=padding: 0px 10px; font-size: smaller;] Date: November 22nd, 2012 Location: Alfred's place! [ width: 350px; height: 300px; -moz-1px; font-family: Penelope knew she was running a bit late, but she was perfectly alright with that. Sure she was usually on time, but she had crashed for much longer than she was supposed to and thus ended up behind schedule. Ah well, she doubted everyone had arrived yet anyway, and so she had collected the crazy amounts of fruit salad she made before driving to Alfred’s place. It wasn’t really a long trip, but she had to stop for coffee a few times being that she was horribly addicted and thus needed it to function. Maybe she should try cutting back a little at some point, but now was certainly not the time for that. She had even brought a bunch of packets to commandeer Al’s coffee maker with so she didn’t end up falling asleep before the end of the celebration. The state definitely didn’t want to miss out on any of the fun activities that would be taking place, and besides things always got interesting when a bunch of states, cities, the capital and their country got together. Though, apparently Alfred had invited basically the entire world this time, and so it might be a little more interesting than usual. Penny was one of the states that did try to make it to as many Thanksgiving dinners at Alfred’s as she could, some years it wasn’t possible because of weather or something coming up, but she did try to attend all of them, and this one was no different. It was super nice weather in PA, and so she had no issue driving to his place this year. Penny arrived after one more stop for coffee, and collected the fruit salad out of her car before wandering indoors. Wow, there were already quite a few people it seemed and she smiled. Somehow she managed to find a place for the fruit before decided that she now needed to hug and say hi to everyone in the room whether she knew them or not. The girl decided to start with people she didn’t actually know, and so she gave Chen a hug with a hello and a small introduction that consisted of ”I don’t know you, but hi I’m Penny, or Pennsylvania.” Erin got pretty much the same greeting. A name and a state would probably help with identification later if they ended up talking more. Next she hugged Lewis and Louis with a grin ”You both came, yay!” she said happy to see them both. The girl was starting to make her way around the room now and was going to have greeted everyone soon. Michelle got a hug and greeting next, and then she hugged Theo with a statement of ”Hiya Theo.” Mattie got a hug too once she spotted him, and then she squeezed Danii in a hug too. Penny proceeded to do her best to squish Alfred slightly with a hug and a smile too. ”Happy Thanksgiving, I will require your coffee maker later of course, and I brought fruit salad.” she said with a smile before going and hugging Johnny too. ”Hi northern neighbor, are things getting any better yet?” she asked with a hint of concern in regards to the hurricane nonsense that had happened recently. Well, she had successfully greeted everyone now, and wasn’t sure who exactly to really start a full conversation with yet, and so she was going to ponder that for a moment or two longer. It smelled good in the house, and she actually wondered when dinner would be because all that coffee did tend to make you hungry after a while. Again, she doubted that all fifty states would be present, but if they were, along with some cities, and then the foreign nations and some of their states and cities...
Well, would there even be enough food to feed everyone? Alfred usually went all out with Thanksgiving, but she didn't think that even he would have enough food to feed over two hundred people. Fortunately, she doubted that many people would show up. Other states had their own Thanksgiving celebrations, and she was sure that not every nation would show.
Lewis, Niagara Falls, USA was there. Aat least she thought it was Lewis...it could have been his Canadian brother, but she doubted the Canadian one would be there without the American one, and as she only saw one of the brothers at the moment, she reasoned that it had to be the American brother. She kept her eye on the door as she watched a green-haired nation burst in. As a state, Michelle wasn't as familiar with other nations as Alfred, the nation himself, was, but she was fairly certain the green-haired nation was Ireland.
Whoever it was, she'd brought a party with her.
She was a little surprised when said nation turned to her, but quickly recovered. The green-haired woman introduced herself, confirming Michelle's suspicion. This was Ireland. "You're right, I don't think we have. Michelle, Michigan." Michelle responded simply, preferring to do a quick and easy introduction in the same fashion that Erin had. She watched as Erin commandeered the stove, mildly amused. The girl had gumption, a quality that Michelle always admired seeing in others.
She heard a knock coming from the living room, followed by the sound of someone running for the door. She figured that it was Lewis, who appeared to have taken up residence in the living room in order to see who would be coming through the door.
It was about that time that his twin turned up - again, not much of a surprise to the state.
The next to arrive were Johnny, Theo, and Matthew. Michelle just laughed at Johnny's statement. "Hey, my boys got you fair and square. But if it makes you feel better, they got knocked out in the World Series anyway." It was Michelle's turn to scowl a little. So close, again, yet they lost in the World Series once more. It was like 2006 all over again. She just chuckled at Theo's glare, not particularly bothered. He'd get over it eventually. She knew he was even more bitter than Johnny was over the Yankees losing, but he wouldn't stay mad forever.
She regarded Matthew last, one of the few nations other than her own that she actually interacted with on a regular basis. She was on the border between Matthew and Alfred, and therefore dealt with Matthew on a more regular basis than the states that weren't on the northern border. "Hey Matthew! Need help with any of that?" He was carrying an awful lot, it looked like. Before she could go to help Matthew, however, she was suddenly pulled into a hug by none other than Penny. Michelle grinned and threw her arms around the other state. "Penny! It's been a while! How have you been?" [/style] |

Post by ERIN "IRELAND" PATRICK on Jan 15, 2013 11:09:39 GMT -5
[style=width:400px; background-color:#FFF; font-family: Freestyle Script; font-size: 50px; color:#000; border-top: 10px solid #FF7900; border-bottom: 10px solid #FF7900;]November 2012 Erin returned Alfred’s grin. It was true that any party was a place you could find Erin, even a dinner party. She nodded as he gestured to the stove, and immediately she rummaged for a large pot and plopped it on the stove, dumping the cider into it and dropping a cheese cloth ball of spices in, turning it on to put it to a boil. It had to sit for a bit, so she took a seat at the table, trying to stay out of the way but not trying too hard.
Erin took note of the girl’s name. She quickly tried to assess Michelle’s relationship with Alfred but nothing could be done to distinguish it so she dropped it for now. Her mind then wandered to whether Michelle would be interested in a date night and quickly shoved that aside as well. Damn it Erin, stop being a pervert! ”Well, nice to meet you…” [/b] Erin offered, keeping things brief. Erin then turned her head to look at the small boy who had piped up about her hair. She knew it was directed at her given she didn’t know many other nations, cities, states or otherwise with green hair. She did a cursory glance over, determining he was off the board for potentially sleeping with him (he appears too much like a child for her) and instead decides that he’s not worth her time. But this was Alfred’s get together so she doesn’t take the nasty route and instead goes with as polite as Erin can be. ”I don’t know. It just sort of happened…it’s always been like this”[/b] She responded with a smile. He was giving her a compliment, so maybe he was worth her time. Erin then watched the boy run for the door after hearing a knock and shrugged turning her attention back to the foods. Of course, her attention didn’t stay there very long. Her eyes zipped around landing on what appeared to be someone identical to the boy who had asked her about her hair. Erin’s eyes roamed from one to the other and shrugged indifferently to herself, not bothering to try to work out who they were. Didn’t matter to her after all. Now Johnny was another story. He had potential. She grinned as he said ‘lookin’ good’ and kissed him on the cheek as he kissed hers. ”I am always looking good.”[/b] she said in response, her tone cocky as ever. ”Not looking too bad yourself…Perhaps I should go visit you for a week when I am finished visiting Alfred here. You up for visitors?”[/b] she asked. Now whether she meant as friends or otherwise was always quite unclear with Erin. She had yet to sleep with Johnny so they were mostly just friends. However, Erin wasn’t blind to prospective slumber buddies and wanted to keep those channels open. Erin was just about to go back to admiring the mashed potatoes as Alfred mixed them when she was ambushed by a bear hug from Theo. He appeared to be hugging everyone there and she focused on trying to place where she had seen him before. She was pretty sure it was while visiting Johnny…oh! Yeah! He was New York City! Rightttt. She gave him a polite smile, but waited until he was focused elsewhere to give him a one over. Yup! There’s potential there too! The next hug she got was from a rather pretty girl who introduced herself as Penny. Well...Pennsylvania had a nice ass, Erin’s thoughts wandered as she wondered whether the girl would swing her way. Quickly trying to shake the mentality of scoping out potential lays, Erin smiled back and introduced herself. ”I am Erin…Ireland.”[/b] she said in a tone that suggested she was simply stating a fact. She would have to keep an eye on that one to figure out prospects. At least with the guys it was easier to tell if they were into the ladies or the gents. Well…most of the time. Some still surprised her. [/div] TAG: Everyone! WORDS: 577 OUTFIT: A pair of jeans, a green, white and orange striped sweater, and a white decorative scarf. [/style][/style][/center]
