Johnny hummed a tune to himself, he wasn't even sure were he had gotten it from, but he was sure that he had heard the band playing it earlier during dinner. Not that he had really been listening to them, too busy chatting away with some of the other passengers at the table and making sure that Theo actually ate all the vegetables on his plate. Sometimes that boy just still acted like a child, not that Johnny could really hold it against him, in the general years of the 'people' like them, the personifications, they were all still very young. But either way Johnny made sure he ate his veggies and used all the right utensils while doing so, because they were sailing first class and New York always had to make an impression. Still humming the tune as he walked out of the spacious cabin B 57 and onto the starboard side of the deck Johnny pulled his overcoat a little closer around his decidedly lank frame, the fleeting thought worming through that he needed to work out more, maybe try and gain some more muscle mass so he didn't look like a walking string bean. Just simple little musing about this and that as he stuck his hands deep into the pockets of the heavy overcoat in search of his cigarettes. Smoking had become such a bad habit of his, and Johnny tsked to himself, realizing his dependency, but so long as it didn't kill him he'd keep on smoking them. A sound of triumph cut his humming short as the blond finally pulled the cigarette from his pocket and brought it to his lips, eager for that hit of nicotine even as he fought against the wind to light his damn match. Eventually he won, and took a long slow drag of the smoke as he leaned against the rail and looked out into the dark expanse of ocean, so still in the night save for the water that broke into rippling waves away from the steam liner as they chugged on forward, back home to New York. It had been an interesting experience to go to England on a business deal for the rather small Computing-Tabulating-Recording Company, but Johnny was a big investor in the company and wanted to help them expand into England as that would make him more money. Which was quite necessary after Standard Oil was broken up, monopoly laws be damned. Granted it had been a good bit of fun to run around in a different country and piss Arthur off for shits and giggles to, but it had been almost a month since he had seen the shores of America and Johnny desperately wanted to go home. The man missed his home, his neighboring states, and most of all he missed looking out of his window and seeing his Lady Liberty standing in the distance watching over him and his "family," those being the other cities in his care. The blond had worried about them as well while he had been gone, thankful to at least have his boy Theodore with him on the trip. All they had to do was get through this voyage and he would be home again, just the idea had Johnny giddy, he had been bouncing on his heels and chomping at the bit since they had boarded the liner in Southampton to finally be home. He had to admit though, the White Star Line had spared no expense in making the ship not just the largest but most luxurious he had ever been on, let alone come across. It had definitely been worth the price of the tickets, though just the chance to say he had been on the maiden voyage of the Titanic had been the selling point for him. Taking another drag and leaning a little more heavily on the rail Johnny slowly let the smoke back out, watching it dissipate into the air lazily and planning all the things he would as soon as he got home when he heard the bell ringing from the crow's next. That could not have been good. After a moment of looking up at the source of the sound, Johnny shrugged a little to himself, ready to get back to his musings and his smoke when everything veered to the side and he Johnny stumbled, grabbing the railing so he wouldn't fall and dropping his cigarette into the icy ocean below, "What da hell is going on?!" He yelped angrily to himself, that was his last smoke. Proverbial feathers ruffled, he was just about to go find someone to go off on for the loss of his precious last smoke when the ship lurched again, the sound of scraping metal caused the hair on the back of his neck to stand as he held desperately onto the railing and watched the looming tower of ice as it passed over head, shadowing him and a few of the other people on the deck. Quickly Johnny backed away a few paces as smaller chunks of ice pelted the hard, polished wood of the deck, golden eye wide at the sight. He had never actually seen an iceberg before, let alone close up like that, the other night owls around him started to chatter again, someone even picked some smaller clumps of ice up and plopped it into his glass of brandy. No one seemed particularly frightened by what had just transpired, the ship was said to be unsinkable after all, either way the blond couldn't get the screech of metal out of his ears, and he turned to check on Theodor, "Theo! Ya alright kid? You wont believe dis, da ship just hit a fuckin' iceberg, did ya see that shit?"[style=padding: 0px 10px; font-size: smaller;] Date: April 14th 1912, 11:40 pm Location: Titanic, middle of the Atlantic Music: El Manana - Gorillaz Notes: Random note, Computing-Tabulating-Recording Company (CBT) was a NY business that eventually became IBM 8) [/div][/style]

Vegetables.
The spawn of all evil, as far as the city was concerned, his current situation only planting the thought more firmly into his mind as he, in his own opinion, skillfully and subtlety selected the more desirable, overly favored foods on his plate as he alternated between resisting the increasing urge to unceremoniously shove the contents of said plate into his mouth with lightening speed, which if he did would undoubtedly cause a fair amount of unwanted negative attention towards him from their fellow first class diners, and following Johnny's lead in joining the current conversion when necessary with a seemingly natural ease.
Every now and again, he would drop his cutlery, only to eventually fiddle with the various utensils as he spoke, until he either was shown which ones to use, or simply dropped them onto the table once again. On occasion Theo would also toy with the remaining vegetables as he made a point of loading up his fork with the now cold greens if Johnny was to glance at him, only to flash him an overly innocent grin and quickly allow the food to drop back onto his plate as soon as he looked away, smiling to himself as though he felt that by doing this he was outsmarting the other, and somehow gained something from this simple act of childishness that even he acknowledged at times was ever so inappropriate, if one was to consider his age as one of the most well-known cities in the United States.
Still, Theo would continue, though after a while would find himself caught in the act, or so to speak, by a disapproving look under which he completely relented, though mainly due to the general surprise of having Johnny look over just at the wrong moment he returned with a sheepish smile, avoiding eye contact, and finding himself despite his better judgement to be forcing down a portion of the various assortments of greens that adorned the plate, if anything to avoid his companion's disapproving gaze for as long as possible, until the entire episode was repeated, all music and noise that surrounded the table becoming nothing more than a soft buzzing to be heard in the back of his mind, not really taking too much notice of anything, having already scoured every inch of the wonderfully decorated room with an excited gaze that seeker to jerk from one thing to another in quick succession, attempting to take in everything at once, before the meal, which in itself had, upon arrival at their table, for a limited time caused him to repeat his actions, speaking without so much as a pause for breath to anybody who happened to be nearby of the whole wonderfully exciting experience and the enormous boat and everything that happened to be on it that seemed to stun him completely.
This general fascination with anything and everything that happened to be on board seemed to not only apply to the palatial walls of the dining room, but also the entire boat itself, as even after the boy had followed the state outside, finding the room too small to contain his ever-increasing excitement that was only fueled by the sight of the ocean, having found it for some unknown reason one of the most fascinating aspects of the whole trip.
After what seemed like a lifetime of wandering around, barely stopping to gaze in awe at the seemingly mundane objects that to him were seen in an intriguing new light, simply due to the fact that they happened to be aboard the cruise liner, he found that despite himself, his energy was quickly waning, and so settled with standing a few metres away from the elder, leaning over the railing as he stood precariously on his toes, head all but resting on the railing itself in his attempt to crane his neck to watch the other, for no particular reason other than to watch the swirls of smoke that escalated from the cigarette in his hand, watching it evaporate into the growing darkness with an air of calm.
Usually, the sight would remind him of his great dislike for the man's habit, even from a young age noting that he seemed to be almost completely dependant on them, or rather as far as Theo was concerned. And though he couldn't quite place it, there was simply something about the odur of the substance within the cigarette that he hated the smell of, and the boy simply couldn't understand how exactly it hadn't caused some form of horrible side-effect, considering the amount that he watched Johnny go through a day.
Though somehow, leaning heavily over the railing of the boat, with the placid ocean beneath them and the luxuries of the First Class at their disposal, the now common sight did very little to bother him, so much that he didn't bother to fix him with a questioning stare, or even to make some form of comment on the fact, and instead directed his gaze lazily to the ocean, gazing out at nothing in particular as he slumped a little more against the railing, and he could just feel his lids droop a little when he let out a stifled yawn......
....He sprung from the rail as though it had scalded his hands, letting out an alarmed yelp as the shrill, almost deafening tones of a bell sounded.
Taken completely by surprise, he had barely recovered from the initial shock before the solid ground beneath him seemed to swerve to the side, in an instant finding himself on the floor, back up against the railing, though how he had gotten there he wasn't quite sure, only half-heartedly noting the fact that a part of the boat, close to him in fact, seemed to be shadowed in darkness.
He blinked, still trying to make sense of the sudden series of events before fully processing the fact that he was being addressed, or perhaps he wasn't. It was virtually impossible to tell, considering the increasing amount of people yelling something or another, after a moment acknowledging the sense of urgency in their voices. It all seemed rather distant, as though he were simply watching the series of events as an onlooker, rather than actually being in the midst of the action.
Snapping out of his transfixed state almost in an instant as the familiar tones of Johnny sounded over the general hubub, his head shot up automatically upon being addressed, and all of a sudden the severity of the moment hit him like a ton of bricks.
"Johnny? Johnny! ...IT WHAT!?"

[cen He loomed over just about everyone, already quite tall for his own age and he found it easy to spot Theo, who had apparently wandered out of their cabin at some point. Johnny strode over to him quickly, helping him up and dusting him off as best he could, "Theo, ya alright?" He was spooked, his golden eyes still rather wide as he looked the smaller boy over, Johnny had always acted as something like a parent to his cities, even if he really wasn't much older then a few of them. He worried about them, cared for them, and was generally almost obnoxiously over protective of them, and this moment was no different. Trying to calm the tone of fear in his voice Johnny didn't want to start Theodore panicking if he didn't have to, the ship was supposed to be unsinkable. The most high tech, luxurious and sturdy thing floating the seas at the moment, so there couldn't have been anything to worry about then right? No need to scare Theo if he didn't have to, but he couldn't shake the deep worry that had nestled in the pit of his stomach, it didn't help when his eyes wandered to a large chunk of ice laying on the lacquered wood. "Da ship, it hit an iceberg I think," There, that sounded a lot less panicky, but there was a mild tremble just under his tone, "Come on, maybe we outta head on inside for right now," People where coming out onto the decks, many of them still in their nightwear and talking lightly to each other, but none of them seemed even remotely distressed. Just people glancing around and a few minutes later some were stopping some of the workers as they rushed past quickly. A deeper frown etched itself onto his face, the way the staff ran back and forth like they didn't know what they were supposed to be doing at the moment. That was what stopped him from walking back into the cabin the way that the staff seemed to have this panic in their eyes., he gently stopped one of the servant women, giving her his brightest smile, "Sorry to stop you miss, but is everything all right? I saw the iceberg dat we passed," She attempted to smile back but she stuttered something about having hit the iceberg and something else about lifeboats before she turned and was gone into deck. His eyebrows raised higher at that, and frowning deeper Johnny turned to Theo forcing a smile as he turned, "Dey say da ship is unsinkable right? Just keep dat in mind," Affectionately he dropped his hand on Theo's head and ruffles his hair, a habit he had done for years upon years already, in fact he couldn't remember a time when he didn't do that. He was sure there was no need to panic, no one else seemed to worry, maybe he was just being overprotective, Theo was his favorite and he always worried about the boy the most. Letting his hand fall to the younger boys shoulder, he gave it a reassuring squeeze, "It's cold out here, let's go get our hats and gloves at least," He didn't know what to do exactly, but it was definitely colder then a witches tit out tonight and he wanted to make sure Theo didn't catch a cold, because he felt it would be best to stand out on the deck and keep informed for the night, even if the ship really was unsinkable. Leading the boy back inside, he searched around for their things before giving it to him, "Come on, let's get back outside and see whats goin' on," Hopefully nothing, but his stomach dropped further when he saw women and children being hoarded into the life boats, oh god let that just be a precaution.
