Once upon a time somebody ran
Somebody ran away saying fast as I can
I've got to go... got to go
Somebody ran away saying fast as I can
I've got to go... got to go
It was gray and rainy outside, perfect weather for the tiny girl at a large desk to sit back and take a break. Her eyes were heavily bruised, evidence of her insomnia, and she sighed softly, her chest rising and falling with her even breaths. Staring out the window she blinked slowly, her exhaustion causing her joints to ache and protest as she stood, her fingers shaking gently from the chill in the room. Lifting herself, she walked over to the window and rested her hands on the cold sill, gazing over the dismal day.
Turning from the window she padded softly from the room and walked down the large staircase, the entire house lit only by a few candles. Why she kept it so dark was a mystery, but she entered the kitchen without a sound and poured herself a cup of coffee. Leaning against the counter she glanced around, noticing the small state of disarray that the house was in. Shaking her head she bent in front of the sink cabinet and removed several cleaning supplies.
Completely washing down the kitchen a small sigh of satisfaction escaped her, and she momentarily thought of doing a bit of excess cleaning. Leaving the kitchen with a new cup of coffee she entered her bedroom, barely touched. Lighting a fire in the small fireplace against one wall she glanced up at the large portrait over it momentarily, gazing at the three smiling faces in the picture. A tiny smiling face, a mirror of her own but younger, sat smiling atop the lap of a cheerful albino, and next to him was a beautiful smiling woman. A tinge of sadness stung her heart, and her stomach clenched painfully. turning from the image she walked towards her closet, a small skeleton key in her hand.
Turning the key in the lock she stepped back as the door swung open, and she was greeted with the smell of dust. Coughing for a moment she waited for the small room to air out before pulling out various boxes.Once upon a time we fell apart
You're holding in your hands the two Halves of my heart
Ohhhhh, ohhhhh!
Looking through them she saw most of them were filled with books or random items that she had previously deemed far too precious to have out. Shaking her head she pushed the boxes against the wall, and peered into the closet once more. A small chest caught her gaze, covered by a Prussian flag. She paused for a moment, breath caught in her throat. Gently prying the chest from its place, she removed the flag and carefully folded it, placing the precious fabric on her cold and unused bed.Once upon a time, we burn bright
Now all we ever seem to do is fight
On and on...
And on and on and on...
Once upon a time on the same side.
Once upon a time on the same side, the same game
And why'd you have to go, have to go and throw it all on my fame
Opening the chest slowly, she gazed in. Her stomach turned painfully, as she picked up several delicately wrapped boxes and placed them on the floor in a line. Her breathing had become ragged, her sweet emerald gaze glassy. Licking her dry lips momentarily she closed her eyes as the memories crashed in waves over her.
"Gilbert!" A tiny girl ran into the arms of an older albino man, throwing her skinny arms around his neck in a tight hug. The older man laughed and held the tiny girl close, and had a bit of trouble as he tried to pry her off. "Leeny." He smiled, and pulled out a wrapped box and held it out to her. He handed her the box, and didn't waste much time in leaving her alone. She stood, the box in her hand, fingers trembling. "Another present..." She walked to her room carefully, and stowed the box underneath her bed. "Maybe....maybe if I don't open it...he won't have to leave." And then, they could be a real family.
Shuddering quietly she sat, hands folded on her lap. Her chest rose and fell rapidly, and she tried to contain her tears. She'd never opened a gift after the second time he left her, the first two were painful enough to see. Gaze wandering over the presents, she picked up the one wrapped in red paper. The very last one he had given her, which had remained untouched for centuries.I could've been a Princess, You'd be a King
Could've had a castle, and worn a ring
But no, you let me go
I could've been a Princess, You'd be a king
Could've had a castle, and worn a ring
But no, you let me go
And stole my star
Trembling, she opened the box. Carefully, she lifted the lid, and removed the gift inside. She shook viciously as tears spilled over her face and down her pale cheeks, her heart ripping into two. It was a small aged golden locket, and inside was a miniature portrait of the three of them, smiling. The locket was engraved in intricate swirling designs, with a small ruby on the front. Sobs wracked her body as her eyes closed, holding the locket to her tightly. The very last gift, somehow she had known it was all over, just from the look in his eyes. But he remained cheerful as ever, barely said another word to her, and had left. Left her all alone, to face her own destruction.Cause you really hurt me
No you really hurt me
Cause you really hurt me
No you really hurt me
Cause you really hurt me
Ooooooooh no you really hurt me
Cause you really hurt me
Ooooooooh no you really hurt me...
Pale lips parted, and a raspy gasping whine escaped her.
"O-oh Gott....Gilbert..."
