With a facepalm, she closed her phone, twitching to herself at the fact that she was lured because of food. Great, she thought with only a wry smile on her face as the brunette nation walked briskly while looking for his place. Last time she was here, it did not went well but it wasn't all that bad considering America was as nice as always, if not a bit loud. Maybe she was not giving him some slack from their last meeting, but Philippines, Gabriella Santos, decided that whatever he did to her back then, she's starting to regret hanging out with him after she got her independence. Half-heartedly, of course. She won't say it, but Alfred's someone she could rely on most of the time. "Geez! Now I have to explain to my boss why the hell I have to visit him!" She mumbled to herself, scratching the back of her head while walking the streets leading to his house. He promised that he'll buy her some McDonald's since she started to grow to like them (Burger and fries, especially) but maybe also just to catch up outside the Conference room since most of the time, he's busy with the G8 while she settled herself with her ASEAN brethren. "Well, it's not really that bad," Gabriella told to herself. "I mean, he'll buy me burgers and fries, and I'm sure he doesn't mind me visiting on short notice." The female nation paused, as if thinking, before she added with a sigh upon her arrival at the front of the powerhouse nation's house. "... I should have brought aspirin." Without further ado, Philippines looked around as she pushed the doorbell and waited patiently for him to come and invite her inside. He invited her out for McDonalds, and she expressed her interest, but he wasn't expecting her to come over straight away. Nevertheless, he was planning on going out for a bite to eat himself. Contrary to popular belief, he didn't just eat fast food. He had quite a wide palate, and could enjoy almost any food that was set in front of him. He had a particular weakness for home cooking. However, fast food had a special lure in that it was just that - Fast. Alfred was never one known for his patience, and fast food played on that big time. Alfred changed out of his Captain America pajamas and into jeans and a t-shirt, an outfit more suitable for heading out of the house. As he exited the bathroom, Tony shot him a look that was all too clear to him. "Aww, don't worry Tony, I'll bring you back something good. I know how much you like their McNuggets!" The little gray alien, apparently satisfied by this, wandered off into another room, while Alfred made a mental note to get an extra 20 pack of McNuggets to bring back. The blonde nation was in the midst of grabbing his signature bomber jacket when he heard the doorbell ring. Slipping on his bomber jacket, he looked toward the door in curiosity. Who could it be? As mentioned before, he wasn't actually expecting anyone straight away. "AMERICA! WHERE ARE YOU?" So it was true - He wasn't the only one who couldn't resist the lure of McDonalds. "COMING PHILIPPINES!" He quickly slipped his hand into the pocket of his jacket, making sure that his wallet and cell phone were inside. Once he deemed that he was ready to hit the town, he strode over to the door, pulling it open and stepping out. "I wasn't actually expecting you over here so soon, but you had perfect timing! I'm just about to go to Mickey D's!" Alfred didn't bother locking the door behind him as he started to stride away from his porch - Tony was still inside, and on the off chance that someone did try to break in, Tony would scare them off easily. "C'mon, I'll give you a ride!" Not even waiting for a response, Alfred set out for his car, swinging his keys around on the tip of his finger and whistling excitedly. With his signature bomber jacket and all, he didn't seem to wait for her to answer when he said he's willing to give her a ride. Well, she thought with a small sigh, she doesn't mind walking a bit but this works too. "What can I say," Philippines voiced out, mildly sarcastic but all for fun. "I blame you for that influence, Alfred." Normally, Gabriella was go with walking instead of taking a ride to any vehicle (gas price, knowing today's economy) but the brunette decided that maybe it wasn't that bad to ride a car every once in a while. Though she doesn't seem to mind, the fact that she ran off from her place pronto and did not dare check the fact that the taxi she took was running too fast for comfort was starting to take a toll on her and, even if she haven't took breakfast yet, it was making her feel a bit queazy. Probably not a good sign but she needs to keep her stomach intact for her breakfast at Mickey D's... Or McDo, as she (and her people) calls it. Figures. "Oh, and you don't mind slowing down on the driving, right?" The female spoke, though behind her back she know that he will disregard her request. But here's to hoping. "I don't want to hurl in your car." She added, shaking her head before getting her head straight. "Man, remind me to drag you to my place one of these days and force-feed you with my home cooking." Gabriella said, pausing for a bit before she added, "And England. Don't forget England." That's one thing to point out. "So, how are things?" It was natural that, despite her somewhat-erratical relationship with America, bickering, scolding and all, she still cares for him and, not admitting it to him, even glad that he's taking care of her despite her personality to him. Well, they do share some similarities probably because of being under his colony back then, but she wasn't complaining recently about it. Maybe she needs to give him a break once in a while and try not to ask him for money the next time. Hey, it's the little gesture counts, if anything. [/style]

Alfred hopped into his red Ford Mustang convertible, not bothering to open the door and instead jumping over the side into the driver's seat. Fortunately, he landed without incident - Practice made perfect, and it wouldn't be the first time that he'd managed to do a faceplant into his own car because he'd misjudged something. Alfred couldn't help but grin as his former colony mentioned that his influence rubbed off on her. "Oh come on, you know I'm a good influence." Because going out for your second McDonalds run in one day was totally setting a great example for her, Al... His grin dropped momentarily as Gabriella mentioned slowing down his driving. "Slowing down" wasn't something that Alfred commonly did, but he'd try to comply with her request. He didn't want to clean up puke from the interior of his car, after all. Who did? A look of confusion crossed Alfred's features at her next words. "Dude, forcefeed? You don't have to do that! I'm cool with trying your food without being forced!" He stated this cheerfully as he waited for Philippines to take her seat next to him. Once she had, Alfred started up his car and backed out of the driveway. "Good luck getting England to try your food, though. He'll probably try to shove off some of his food on you...so watch out. Some of his food is okay, but you gotta look out for some of it. The last time he made steak and kidney pudding for me I spent the next several hours in the bathroom puking, his scones taste like petrified couch stuffing..." Alfred gave an involuntary shudder, although he was playing up his disgust for dramatic effect. In reality, English cooking was not as bad as he made it out to be, and his distaste for it came less from an actually dislike for the food and more out of a lingering sense of rebellion against anything British. That said, he wasn't exaggerating about the steak and kidney pudding. Food poisoning was not fun. Given her previous statements, Alfred had to admit that he was taken by surprise with the relatively casual question that Gabriella posed for him next. "They've been pretty good. Tony and I have been chilling out playing some of Japan's latest games. I've got elections coming up in a couple of months. I try not to pay too much attention to the campaign ads and all that jazz...they always give me a headache. I'll be happy when November's come and gone." He simultaneously enjoyed and hated election years. He loved seeing democracy in action, but hated the inevitable shitstorms. "How about you?" He asked, a bit belatedly as he drove down the road. She said brightly while hiding that audible twitch on her eyebrows before she did what any normal, sane person (or, rather, nation) would do and opened the car door before closing it again once she was in. "Show off..." Was all the female said with a snort, but hanging around with Alfred made her used to it so no great loss. "No, you're not!" Childishly, she stuck her tongue out on his reply about influences before stretching her arms upward. It was rare for her to ride a convertible considering how rare they are where she live (She, IS, Philippines after all) so the young nation is taking every chance she can get to enjoy it. "Man, now all we need is shades and an open road and we could go road trip with no care!" Gabriella said, waving a hand at the thought. "But, aww~ I'm glad you're more willing to taste my cooking! I'll see if I can look for some grasshoppers, frogs and snakes for me to cook later!" She waited for his reactions, tilting her head before she quickly added with a snicker. "On second thought, I'll stick with chicken and pork." "So I heard," The brunette mused with a nod, scratching her cheeks at the thought. "I might have to wait a few more months for the import in my country, if it helps." She stated, leaning back on the leather seat and taking a deep breath to prevent herself from puking. Well, she thought, at least the world's not spinning like before. "Ah, elections." A sharp sigh. "I feel for you. Guys in the government's going haywire back home, I'm pretty sure aspirin's not enough anymore." Her frown widen as the female nation crossed her arms. "People put politics in almost anything these days, do they even consider about us, the nations ourselves?" In truth, it was all rambling from a country that was around since once upon a time, but she's trying her best to not let herself think of it too much and focus on other things. Like Economy, for example. Blinking, Gabriella paused for a bit, giving a thought on the question while scratching her chin out of habit before she managed to come up with an answer. "Pretty good," She said at first. "Somewhat." Another pause before another sharp sigh escaped her mouth. At least where they are going, she could eat as much as she can to forget that she ever bother with the little 'lump' on her life as the personification of a nation. "Airplane crash, conspiracies, the usual. And probably the thing me and China are arguing about, but I think it's just another typical day." As much as Philippines is all smiles and jokes outside the conference room, there are some things that really made her re-think her position as Philippines and pray that things will smooth itself out as the years go by. "And who said we can't?" It was a grin that hinted at the idea that Alfred wasn't just making talk. He was actually considering going on an impromptu road trip with Philippines. He proceeded to blanch when she mentioned cooking grasshoppers, frogs, and snakes. He was willing to try a lot of food, but grasshoppers and snakes weren't at the top of the list by any means. As for frog? Well, frog legs were pretty decent, but then again, they did taste an awful lot like fried chicken. He supposed anything would be good fried though. Even grasshoppers and snakes, now that he thought about it. Nevertheless, he was happy with chicken and pork as well. "Go with chicken and pork." He informed her, still wondering at the idea of eating fried grasshoppers and snakes. Maybe he would be willing to try them after all. Alfred failed to note any signs of motion sickness that Gabriella might be exhibiting, between keeping his eyes on the road and carrying on a conversation. He smiled at Gabriella's words concerning elections and politics. "Everyone has different ideas about what's best for their nation, and some of them get REALLY passionate about their ideas. I'm all on board with that, except that things usually get dirty. They're not happy just arguing with each other, they have to try to beat each other down into the mud. That's when it starts getting crazy, and I start getting migraines." The blond shook his head, running a hand through his hair. "Only two more months to go..." He listened as Gabriella informed him of what was going on at her place. "Oh yeah, I heard about that. Wasn't one of your government guys missing in that crash?" He thought he recalled hearing something like that on the news, but he could have been wrong. He had a tendency to pay more attention when the news was about him anyway. A snicker escaped her lips at the sight of the male nation about her chosen palette of food, making mental note to serve it to them without telling them actually about it. She said with a mock stern to the blonde, index finger batting at him as if she was scolding a child. "Alright, alright, chicken and pork it is." Gabriella sighed with a wry smile, but her mind is still being a mischief about adding the 'secret' ingredients without them knowing. Hey, what they don't know won't hurt them, so pretty much they'll thank her for it, if not complain that her cooking's more bizarre than Engand's. Still... "A...ah?" And, with that, she nearly caught off from the politics topic as she opted not to think about them when not doing any work. She (among with most of her people) are well-known to focus more on having fun and taking it easy when not behind the desk or doing menial work, and would like to keep it that way. However, there are times that she can't avoid such talks though she's not complaining loudly about it. To most, really. "It always does." She said blankly, as if she rather not care about it even if she does the slightest. "Good luck to you, I got next year's elections to take care. Hopefully, I won't be hearing any explosions or anything similar like the last time." It was a foggy memory but she do recall something happened around a month before election came, and she likes to keep it that way... the not-recalling thing, that is. "He's actually dead." Though her tone of voice sounded casual as if she was only talking about her backyard and the worms, the mild ponder look on her face made her statement anything but casual. "He was a good guy, one of the better people in the Philippines, very loved by most people." She paused, scratching her cheeks at the thought. "Remind me to thank England sometime later about the help in locating the wreckage, the family would want to do so, but boss reckon I should do it instead in their stead." Gabriella took this moment of silence, taking in the scenery around her while contemplating a bit more about what's going on. "Oh... what we're arguing about?" She forgot about that (too bad she can't forget about it). "The usual; ownership of the Spratly Island." Just thinking about it makes her cringe because Yao could be very persuasive and the fact that he is MUCH more older than her made it harder for her to fight back. "But, seriously, just thinking of it makes my blood boil a bit for him, but it's something I need to do by myself; if you get involve, he might just think I'm actually taking the bait." She shook her head, as if removing such memory off of her head, especially the memory about a heated argument with Yao that ended with more than just a sore throat. "But, hey! You know what? All this thinking is making me want to eat more! Don't you?" Nice way to avert the things to something else. He couldn't help but wince a little as Gabriella revealed that the 'government guy' that Alfred was referring to had actually perished in the plane crash. "Aww man, I'm sorry to hear that." He wished he could say or do more, but there wasn't really much to say. He would offer his aid, but it sounded like Arthur beat him to the punch. "Will do. That was pretty cool of him, helping you out. Don't tell him I said that, though." Alfred winked. "Ah yeah, the Spratly Islands." Alfred vaguely remembered his Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, announcing that they supported a 'regional solution to the dispute'. That was two years before, however, and Alfred wasn't even entirely aware that the debates were still going on. "Well hey, if you need my help mediating anything, I'm always here." Instead, he focused on her next words and his response to them. Alfred was a little surprised when Gabriella piped up that she didn't want to be the sidekick. However, her next words caused his eyes to brighten up. "Okay, you can be the heroine, just so long as I still get to be the hero!" Unless one was referring to a large team of superheroes, such as the X-Men, Avengers, or Justice League, there was usually only one hero. Heroines, however...heroes and heroines could work together. He realized it was a bit silly, but at the same time, it was all in good fun, so why not? Alfred noted Gabriella pointing at her chest and heard her next comment, losing himself to laughter. "How can I do that when you're the one who brought it up in the first place?" Oh, she'd brought it upon herself now. She should have known better than to give him an arsenal for his teasing. The cashier smiled and nodded at Gabriella, mildly surprised at how much the girl ordered. "Jeez Al, she eats almost as much as you!" Alfred's began to laugh once more at this. "Yeah, well, she learned from the best. Can you add a 6 piece of nuggets? Tony's got me craving them now." It wasn't as though McDonald's was a rare treat for Alfred, but if he had a craving for something, he usually acted upon it. The cashier nodded and, with a chuckle, told Alfred the total. Alfred quickly dug his money out of his wallet and handed it over. The cashier processed the money and handed Alfred back his change before handing Alfred a cup for his drink. "Can you wait here for the food? I'm gonna go fill my drink." Alfred slipped away for a few moments to fill his McDonald's cup with ice cold Coca-Cola. The cashier also handed Gabriella her drink, which had to be made behind the counter as floats couldn't very well be made at a fountain. Alfred picked up one of the trays (trying to take the one that looked like it had the most on it) and carried it off to a table near the window. He slipped into the seat and began to unwrap his hamburger, taking a bite before proceeding with their conversation. He grinned at the smaller nation's suggestion. "I like it! You're good at this, Philippines. Then again, you did learn from the best." Alfred puffed out his chest a little, with a large grin on his face. He was glad she'd opted to come over. This was going to be a lot more fun than it would have been if he'd just gone for a quick McDonalds run on his own! Alfred sipped at his Coca-Cola as he listened to Gabriella add further input on the subject. Swallowing at the next pause, Alfred grinned. "Nah, nothing particular in mind. We'll just pick a direction and go!" Alfred fidgeted a little in his seat, wanting to enjoy his food yet eager to hit the road. I don't want him to get antsy and start abducting people to kill time or something. Hopefully the video games'll keep him occupied enough."
