RHETT (CHARLESTON) SUMNER
{Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn.}
{Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn.}
I Feel Like We're Summoning The Devil
Nickname/Alias: Charleston, or Rhett
Gender: Male
Character Type: City
Country or Country of Origin: The United States
Canon or Original: Original

When I look into all of your stupid faces
I think how fun it will be to pound them into dust
Hair: Black
Height and Weight: 6’3 && 170
Other Distinguishing Features: None really that most can see with his clothes on, but he’s an old city, the scars run deep. Hurricanes, earthquakes, total war within a civil war; the list goes on. He’s got marks on him ranging from small nicks to gashes taking up most of his back. And those are the scars that are just on the outside.
Overall Appearance: He is slender, tall and rather handsome if he does say so himself. He has blue eyes, black hair and a pale complexion. He has a gentle smile and he’s often seen with it gracing his features. He keeps to himself for the most part, but he’s often the first to share a smile with just about anyone. He is often over dressed for most occasions, and he just likes to look like the gentleman he once was. Everyone who was anyone lived in his city at one point, and they were all dressed to the nines, or whenever he saw them they were. He misses those times, so to keep the memories alive as much as he can.

[/li][li] Sometimes he misses how his town used to be, with big houses, good parties and genuine people. It’s one giant tourist attraction now.
[/li][li] Deep down, he hates tourists, a lot.
Any Quirks/Habits:
[/li][li] Compulsive nail biter.
[/li][li] He’s a fairly good liar, unless you know what to look for; like twitching eyes and half smiles.
Overall Personality: At first glance, one would or could guess that Rhett was just closed off; really he’s just quiet. He does his best to never let someone know too much of his opinion for fear of offending people. Most are so sensitive now, and he just can’t speak his mind unless in much like minded company. He doesn’t like people to know what he’s thinking either, so he does his best not to share anything. He has learned over the years how much influence his city can have, afterall it was the starting place of a war that killed too many. He never wants anything like that to ever happen again, he doesn’t like the bloodshed that comes with things like that; even if it was over something his beloved town folk for the most part found important. He much prefers the high life of social outings, horse racing, and the like to the bloodshed that comes out of his past.
So, on the inside, he is very damaged. He doesn’t like to share with people because he knows what can happen when he does. He has lived through a lot, he’s an old city, and he doesn’t plan on going anywhere. He’s one giant tourist attraction now, and he’s okay with that; he really has to be, though he wishes things were how it used to be. He lives in the past, more often then not. He misses the grandeur that came with his past. There were once plantation, giant dresses, grand parties, horse drawn carriages (well he still has those…you know, for the tourists), pirates, and anything in between. He is glad for some of the reminders of his past dotting the roads of his town, like Rainbow Road and cobblestone streets, but for the most part his beloved past has given way to coffee shops, college students and giant cameras.
Though, despite the damage, gentlemanly exterior, and living in the past; Rhett is a good person. He is loyal, kind and really does care about those close to him. He loves peace, music, shagging (the dance, not the sexual act, though…), pretty women and having a good time. He enjoys spending time on the beach and gambling over card games. You want to know something about how the city used to be? He’s the right person to ask; he may come off as like he’s bragging, but he’s just proud. He is so proud to be where he’s from; to be who he is. He is the epitome of true Southern Gentleman as well. He was raised to hold doors, say please and thank you, and know when it was good to speak and when it’s just best to not stick your neck out. He still holds to those values; though in today’s society it can make him appear stuffy; but he’s been this way for a good 300 or so years, and it doesn’t seem to be changing any time soon.

I'm the hero!
[li] Charles the Second of England gave land to 8 men; known as the Lords Proprietors, in 1663.
[/li][li] Seven years later, the settlement of Charles town came into existence. The community was established by English settlers under William Sayle in 1670 on the west bank of the Ashley River.
[/li][li] Soon, Charles Town became the capitol of the Carolina colony, and a great port city.
[/li][li] Attacks were frequent on the new port city, the attacks came from Native Americans by land, and Spain and France by sea, sometimes Pirate raids as well.
[/li][li] Part of the darker point of history in America spurned from Charles Town as it was a drop off point in the Middle Passage and the Slave Trade.
[/li][li] Cash crops of all different sorts were a large part of Charleston’s early economy, and were part of how it became the 4th largest port in the US, or what would become the US.
[/li][li] The larger Charleston became the more elite parts of society it attracted. Richer merchants and planters began to flock to the city for all of it’s social opportunities.
[/li][li] Once the Revolutionary War broke out, Charleston became a focal point of attacks by the British. In preparation for a new attack, a fort was built outside Charleston, and the fort was made of the Palm Tree, and the trees deflected the cannon fodder, and became immortalized on the flag of South Carolina because of it.
[/li][li] The city fell to the British in 1780, and finally received the name it still bares from Charles Town to Charleston.
[/li][li] Sometime after the Revolution, the capitol of the state of South Carolina was moved from Charleston to the center of the state in a place called Columbia.
[/li][li] Plantations and such cash crop farming continued to boom all over the state of South Carolina, and when Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin; cotton became the major export out of South Carolina.
[/li][li] Tensions in the states started to get worse and worse the more industrial the North became. The south stuck to agriculture, and the use of slave labor; while the north saw this as the old way of life. Tensions would eventually come to a head when Abraham Lincoln took office.
[/li][li] December 20th, 1860 was a very influential date in South Carolina history, it’s the date the state seceded from the Union; swiftly followed by other states, which led to the most bloody conflict ever fought on American Soil.
[/li][li] On April 12th, 1861; the first shots of the Civil War were fired by P.G.T Beauregard’s troops in the battery park of Charleston, starting the Civil War.
[/li][li] Throughout the war, the city was attacked, until it finally fell in 1865.
[/li][li] After the war, union troops remained in the city throughout the reconstruction of the city. The city itself was nearly destroyed, it’s prosperity seemingly gone forever.
[/li][li] As the city worked to pull itself back together, it nearly lost everything again in 1886 when an earthquake toppled most of the city as it tried to fix itself.
[/li][li] In more recent history, the town has been more peaceful, becoming a popular tourist destination. The occasional Hurricane make things a little hard on residents, but for the most part, the city is seemingly ideal for vacations and locals alike.

You've got it backwards! Backwards!
Hurry up and throw it! If you don't hurry up and throw it, you'll go "boom"!
Tonight was just one of those nights where she had to get out. Meeting after meeting after meeting, that’s all she’d known this week. And some nights, after all that, she wanted to stay in and do nothing, but not tonight. She wanted to get shit faced, and end up with her panties strung up a flag pole or some shit. Where were those crazy Americans she knew when she needed them? She let her out hair of it’s hold as she moved around the room she’d been given to sleep in while away from home, and she tossed off her nice clothes. Her dress landing on her shoes, and the pile of clothes only growing, she couldn’t for the life of her bring herself to care that she was making a giant mess. She knew she’d care tomorrow, but tomorrow was hours away and she just wanted to let loose. After changing, she fixed her hair to look decent and tousled, and she pushed the door open, checking for phone and other necessary things before heading to a bar, or anything that could have booze for the next few hours.
She walked a short ways down the street, found a line of people waiting to get in a building with pulsing music and figured if she wanted to lose those panties or whatever it was she really wanted to do, a place like this was her best bet. She didn’t have to wait long to get in, and she went straight to the closest bar to her. She leaned on the bar top as she looked over the drink menu. She decided on a somewhat local beer she’d never heard of, and she just sat waiting for it. As it was handed to her, she smiled, and she put herself on a stool overlooking the dance floor. She didn’t know why she’d picked a place like this to waste time, but it seemed she wasn’t going anywhere anytime soon now that she was here. Hopefully she wouldn’t do anything too embarrassing, or wouldn’t run into anyone she knew who could see her do such things.
She reclined a bit, leaning on the bar, and she just let her eyes wander the room, seeing if anything other then drinking could be fun for the night. Drinking seemed good enough for her really, anything else was just extra, though she wouldn’t complain about anything extra; extra could always been fun, or dangerous depending on who this extra happened to happen around.
