✓ College Football
At this point, college football has become an unhealthy obsession. He will not hesitate to throw his three consecutive national titles in all of the other state's faces and brag about how it's about to be four and that none of the other states will live up to his record. He has, however, had a long history of legendary coaches at the University of Alabama and--is slightly ashamed to say--a lot of his relationships with other states is determined through football rivalries.
✓ Bluegrass Music
He enjoys country music but not nearly as much as old-fashioned bluegrass and southern gospel. It is a little known fact about Robert that he plays the mandolin and used to clog quite often.
✓ Food
He loves to cook and he loves to eat, it's not exactly a secret. More importantly, he likes to cook the food that he's grown himself and chooses not to do anything fancy with it. In fact, it's rather bland on most occasions.
✓ The Outdoors
Robert prides himself on his forest preservation, many lakes, well kept coast line and diverse ecosystem. He still enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, canoeing and hunting when he can find the time.
✓ Farming
Farming has always been a very large part of Robert's life, it being the dominating factor of his economy even before his state-hood. He has his own personal farm where he grows his own vegetables, raises his own cattle and keeps horses.
✓ Space and Rockets
It is a strange quirk but Robert has always found a slight fascination with rocket science. Hunstville is home to the Marshall Space Flight Center which was a very important setting for the Apollo program and is NASA's lead center for space shuttle propulsion. The rest of Redstone Arsenal, which houses the Marshall Space Flight Center, was also a very important location for the testing of space crafts.
✓ Rodeos
Robert was never much of a cowboy per say but horsemanship has always been a great skill of his and rodeos are very popular year round. He was never one for actually competing in them but he always loves to go watch one.
✓ Storytelling
Robert very much so considers storytelling to be a dying art. In fact, most of his great storytellers are dead, his favorite, Kathryn Tucker Windham having died just in the past year (he's still holding onto Harper Lee though.) Robert himself is a spinner of very tall tales and one should not put too much stock into his stories.
Dislikes:
✗ His Own Weather
If you've ever spent a summer in Alabama, you'll know that it's not the hottest place on earth you could be, but the humidity will take your breath away as soon as you step out the door. To call Alabama weather unpredictable would be an understatement. One year he might skip any sort of winter weather while the next it might snow all winter and be followed by a hell-fury season of tornadoes. It makes farming very difficult.
✗ Ghosts
People aren't kidding when they say that you can go anywhere in the South and be surrounded by some sort of supernatural occurrence. Robert has had his fair share of superstitions over the years, most of which lead to warding off the spirits.

Fears:
[-] Tornadoes. On April 27 2011 (including various other days that week but the 27th especially), a total of about 60 tornadoes swept across the state leaving many towns completely destroyed and 238 altogether dead. Towns like Hackleburg and Phil Campbell were wiped completely off the map. Over a year later, most of the bruises that resulted from the storm damage still haven't healed.
[-] Having another war in the States. Regardless of who he's fighting, Robert is rather fearful of the results of fighting a war on home turf ever again.
[-] Causing something controversial. The Civil Rights movement turned some very aggressive attention in Robert's direction and frankly put forth a not so nice opinion of him in many people's minds.
Secrets:
[-] He can't exactly help it but he's still a bit racist inside. He tries to bite his tongue and he's gotten considerably better at it but he's still quick to judge in his mind.
[-] Robert used to be the perfect Southern gentleman: well-spoken, respectable and plenty of hard-earned money but he quickly fell to the other side of the spectrum after the Civil War.
Any Quirks/Habits:
[-] To this day, he still maintains all his old, Southern superstitions.
[-] He has a problem, shouting "ROLL TIDE" as a response to random things. You can thank ESPN for encouraging that habit.
[-] Robert is very vulgar when it comes to his choice of words; swearing is probably one of his worst habits.
