Jayden had been spending the last few days moving everything that was on the one floor that you could see from outside to where he usually resided in the basement. After all, he wasn’t sure how bad of a storm it was going to be, and didn’t want to deal with replacing all sorts of lost or broken items that he just had around upstairs. That would be obnoxious, and he’d rather just move everything downstairs and then back up rather than buying new things. Though really, it might have been easier seeing as downstairs was a trap door and a ladder of sorts to get down. Well, at least most of the stuff he owned that was breakable was already down there to begin with, or he only needed to carry it with one hand. There was also the option of dropping it onto a pile of pillows gently. Appliances, like the stove and fridge, he had upstairs there was nothing he could do about them. He was not disconnecting them and taking them downstairs, hell no that just wasn’t going to happen. Thus, he had resigned to just moving everything from the fridge upstairs to the one he had downstairs. Really, his basement was a studio apartment of sorts, and he preferred it over the upstairs floor. Thus, he just used that when guests came over and maybe just avoid his room so it wasn’t a perpetual wreck.
Anyway, he had gotten the generators he had hooked up to what he figured he would probably need during the storm, and then ventured upstairs for one last look. He really wasn’t sure what time it was, but he figured he would have a little before the storm hit still. Besides, it wasn’t as if he knew when to the last second the storm would hit. He could probably look it up, but he hadn’t thought about it before going upstairs. Once he was satisfied that everything was downstairs he started walking over to the trap door that was the entrance to his room. Of course, that was when the storm hit the shore. Suddenly he was overwhelmed with pain and fell into the wall next to him. That hurt, far more than he was expecting it to, and initially forgot about the storm and was confused before he realized. He could hear cracks and looked up to see the wind was quite violent and then he heard the rain. Really, New Jersey needed to get downstairs, and so using the wall he started walking towards his room. He could deal with the pain there and just wait out the storm without issue. That was, if he could get there before things started getting really bad. Suddenly though, things were falling on him, and he noted idly that he was kind of bleeding. It was hard to concentrate on his surroundings, and after another moment of trying to get to the door he felt something hit him rather hard and then everything went dark.
He woke up soaked, cold, and in a puddle of blood. Well, things were already looking pleasant as she shivered and pushed parts of his house off of him. Wait, he looked around and realized it was still pouring, and the only difference from before was that he no longer had a roof, or walls for that matter. Well, that was kind of disorienting, but he still needed to get downstairs, and so he kicked the debris off of himself before crawling over to his room and falling into it. ”Ow.” he said to no one in particular and looked up glad that he didn’t have to climb up to shut the door. He could hear a few meows from his cats and noted idly they were under his bed. They were probably scared, and really he couldn’t blame them in the slightest for it. Using the ladder, he pulled himself up and walked over to his bathroom. He had been planning on trying to bandage himself up, seeing as he was leaving a trail from bleeding and being soaked. Jayden pulled his shirt over his head and was struck by a wave of dizzy. His view tilted and suddenly he found himself falling over. It probably wouldn’t have lasted very long if he hadn’t whacked his head off of the sink before hitting the floor. So, now he was unconscious again, only this time he wasn’t going to wake up to his house falling on him at least?

He had been watching the news the past few days, the storm just kept getting bigger and bigger, Maria had called to warn him about it after it basically swallowed Puerto Rico whole, and the Weather Channel had it in its sights the entire way, the thing literally reached across the entire side of the states. It had him worried, and he had gone out to get as many supplies as he possibly could, stocking up on water, batteries, flashlights canned food and the like, most of it getting stocked up in Theo's house because he worried about the kid more then anything else.
Johnny had stood beside Governor Cuomo when he decided to down all flights in and out of the airports and shut down some of the bigger tunnels while they were at it, and helped with the evacuation effort, memories of Hurricane Irene were still fresh in his mind. When it was all said and done he had gone home, made sure the valuables where somewhere safe and painstakingly taken the dozens upon dozens of pictures off the walls so they wouldn't fall and get damaged. The day the storm was supposed to hit, Johnny made sure Theo had gone to his basement before picking up JayJay and curling up with him in the bathroom, since it was the only room in his penthouse that didn't have windows looking over everywhere.
Just when he thought that maybe it wasn't going to be so bad, he felt a pain go up his side and yelped, burying his face in his kitten's coat as he suddenly found himself struck with a wave of dizziness. There was pain, and then more pain, ad a shortness of breath that made him cling to his kitten a little harder as he tried to breath, listening to the storm outside and feeling it like someone was bunching him in the gut and trying to hold his head under water at the same time. It hurt, god that really really hurt, he could feel something wet soaking his shoulder, the storm had hit Long Island hard enough that he was bleeding just where he sat.
He couldn't tell how long he was stuck there, unable to move and listening to the storm rage, petting JayJay to try and keep him calm. Eventually the nausea and the dizziness subsided and he shuffled out of bathroom much like a zombie, still clinging to his cat and looked out the window to see that all the lights in the city had gone out save for the Freedom Tower, and as he started at the city in disbelief, the lights eventually went out there too. And then another pain, on his side that came like waves that wouldn't stop, but he had things he needed to do, one was check on Jersey because a quick check of CNN on his cellphone showed that the shore was gone. Originally Johnny was going to leave JayJay at home, but it was cold and dark in the penthouse, and the kitty mewled rather pathetically as if to say he didn't want to stay on his own, so wrapping himself and the kitten up in his thick Yankee's jacket, Johnny set out into the city.
Getting out of Lower Manhattan turned into a magic trick and he had to stop by Queens first, hitching a ride on a boat to do so because a water surge had left Manhattan under over a foot of water, only to find that Queens was basically burning to the ground. No wonder the pain wouldn't fade, he sent a quick call to Al pleading for help and stayed where he was trying to help the firefighters there, since he was strong enough to hold the hose under control in the roar of the wind on his own. When the cheif finally deemed the fire under control Johnny hoped a ride across the bridge to New Jersey, still clinging to his cat and growing more and more worried the closer to the shore he got.
It was gone, it was literally not there anymore and he was panicking when he got to the spot Jayden's house should have been, just rubble laying there now, "Aww come on Jay, don't be dead or nothin," Johnny muttered as he started shifting through the wreck of the house, just barely finding the other state, flopped on the floor bleeding all over. The blonde hoisted the other man up, checked the bleeding on his head and started looking for something to patch him up with, sending JayJay too look for his cats. Getting him patched up Johnny tried waking him to no avail so instead he tossed the other man over his shoulder and scooped up all three of the cats when JayJay found the other two and walked them back to him, deciding it was best to take them home with him, to get them out of the rain.

When Jayden had passed out, it was partially from the nausea caused by the hurricane, and mostly from him hitting his head off the sink. Even nation spirits could suffer from head injuries for a time. Thus he hit the floor and bled all over it. Cleaning that up later would probably be a pain in the ass he imagined. Ah well, it wasn’t something he had to worry about while unconscious certainly. Initially when the hurricane hit he hadn’t realized he was bleeding all over the place because of how nauseated and dizzy he was. Really, it was probably hard to tell the real difference between what was caused by the hurricane and what was caused by his house falling on him. Both had caused a number of bruises and scrapes, though his back was probably the most obvious seeing as that was where the shore was located on him. At first it felt like someone was trying to beat him up with a cheese grater, but now he couldn’t really feel it at all. Though, with the amount of injury on it that should be a definite worry. The numbness had to mean that the shore was either dead or gone. Neither of those options sounded appealing in the slightest.
Slowly he was coming back to consciousness and idly noted that he was moving. He didn’t want to move he wanted to curl up in a ball. Looking up a bit he felt his surroundings were familiar, but was having a hard time placing them until he looked to see who was carrying him. The blonde hair didn’t instantly give it a way, but who it was and where he was clicked into place at the same place. ”Johnny?” he asked simply still a little drowsy. They were about a block from his house, which was why it seemed so familiar to Jayden when he first woke up. ”I can’t figure out if I’m still nauseous or suffering from some sort of head injury that causes me to be dizzy.” he stated with a frown. Until they got to Johnny’s place, he was perfectly content with being carried like a sack of potatoes. Once they got there though he better be put down and allowed to curl up with Johnny and his cats. Which, he could see over Johnny’s shoulder, that they had been carried along too. He also, now, realized that he was bandaged up, and that explained why he wasn’t dripping blood on the sidewalk he supposed.
He was still soaked though, both with his own blood and with water. He reached up to push wet hair out of his face and winced when he found not one but two different lumps. One he knew was from the sink, and the other he assumed was from the house coming down on his head. ”I can’t feel the shore…at all.” he stated with a frown. As he was noticing this they were walking through the front door. Maybe he’d be put down then, or maybe Johnny would just put the cats down and continue to carry him around for a bit. ”I require cuddles.” he said with a pout. He was kind of upset about the shore being gone, and he was in pain so he wanted to cuddle up to someone and do nothing.

Johnny just wanted to be home. Everything ached, his side hurt in a way that made him want to curl up in a ball and just remain unconcious until it passed, but he needed to get home with Jayden and his cats first. Speaking of the dead weight, it was a hard, slow going to get the dark haired state back home with him, Johnny was still feeling nauseous and even worse, he could still feel his blood seeping out of the wound in his shoulder, soaking his shirt with a certain sticky warmth that differentiated it from the cold rain. He hated that feeling, it had a way of bringing back bad memories of wars that he tried to bury somewhere far deep in his mind. Instead, he focused on Jay, he couldn't really imagine how his other was possibly feeling, the Shore was just.....gone. It literally washed away into the ocean, and it had been such an integral part of him for so long, maybe it was best that Jayden wasn't conscious right now. Shifting the man on his shoulder the blonde couldn't stop the wince of pain, his other arm came up stiffly to pull his coat tighter to his chest in a pretty useless attempt to keep himself and the kittens just a bit warmer. They were still mewling rather pathetically, cold and shivering against his chest and he felt so bad for them, sure that Jay wouldn't forgive him if he let them get sick. The blonde frowned when Jayden started to stir, "Just don't go pukin' on me Jay," That was literally the dead last thing he needed in his life right now, for New jersey to puke all down his back, he'd probably just call it quits on life right there, "Won't be able to check till I get you home, so just sit tight," Johnny tried moving faster, but god did everything hurt, he really just wanted to get home. What he had completely forgotten though, was all the trouble he had to get through to get out of Manhattan in the first place, Battery Park was for the most part underwater. It took something just short of a miracle and a speed boat to get back to his apartment building, and he was only actually able to get inside by climbing through a neighbors window, tossing Jay in a little less gently then he probably should have. Lugging him up all the flights of stairs because the elevator was no longer working was not exactly his brand of fun either, and by the time he got into his apartment, Johnny was sure his limbs would simply fall off. Attempting to be somewhat gentle about setting Jayden on the couch Johnny was at least more careful with the kittens, telling JayJay to take care of the other two while he put a towel down for them, watching his kitten try and dry the other two off with it. Coming out of his room he handed Jay a towel and some of his clean, dry clothes to change in. A moment later and he disappeared into his bathroom, stripping out of his clothes and changing into a pair of pajama pants, walking out of the bathroom and trying to stitch his shoulder wound closed as he moved. God he had a little too much practice with self -suturing, "Jay, I dunno 'ow to tell ya dis, but......da shore is gone," His voice was low as snipped the thread, "Dem cuddles are gonna have to wait a sec," Johnny said with a frown, stiffly sitting down beside him and unwrapping a bit of bandage, "Lemme take care of dat head wound first," He didn't wait for Jay to argue, simply started on his work. Jay really did not want to be conscious right at the moment. The amount of pain he was in was kind of incredible, and he was reminded of a few wars he had been in. Really, he wouldn’t be surprised if they were leaving a trail of blood at this point between the two of them. They were both going to be laid up for days if not longer. Tomorrow he’d call about getting his house rebuilt too, being that he kind of knew that it sort of fell on his head. Which, obviously, explained one of the two lumps on his head right at the moment. That one was on the back of his head, and the one from the sink was on the side of his head. He had a distinct feeling that he would probably be asked how he managed to hit his head twice later. The state was not looking forward to explaining it either. He had a feeling that someone would be displeased with him not having waited out the storm in his cellar like he should have been. Hey, it wasn’t entirely his fault, he had been expecting the storm to arrive a little later than it had was all. He lived so clearly it wasn’t that bad right? Well, really, head injuries were always a bad thing, but he at least had woken up right?
Hearing Johnny’s statement he had to chuckle slightly. ”I will do my best. Maybe I’ll just keep my eyes shut until we get there and see if it gets better.” he said simply with a small sigh before closing his eyes again. ”How are you holding up Johnny?” he asked hoping that they would even make it back to the blonde’s apartment before someone passed out. He could hear his kitties mewling from somewhere close and assumed Johnny had them either in his arms or in that general direction. Johnny told him to hold on until they got back because he wasn’t about to set him down to check right at the moment. Jay was pretty sure he had the equivalent of a concussion of some sort right at the moment. Not having one would certainly be more of a surprise. Though, then there was the blatant difficulty of getting to the apartment which consisted of an underwater park and having to cross said park on a speed boat of all things. Where did Johnny even find a speedboat in the middle of what was previously a park? Maybe someone had it in their yard or something nearby. Then he was tossed, none too gently, through a window. ”Ow, not sure that’s helping my injuries Johnny.” he said grumpily before crawling out of the way so Johnny could come through as well.
He was picked back up and carried up the stairs before being set, much nicer this time, on the couch. He helped Jayjay with drying off his kitten a bit before he was handed his own towel and some dry clothes. Idly, he wondered if he should really even get dressed being he was pretty sure he needed some serious bandaging. So, stripping his clothes off he dried off and left the towel on his waist as he sat on the couch and waited for Johnny to return. Hearing Johnny though, he really wasn’t sure what to say about that. He was, admittedly, quite upset by such news and frowned. He was told the cuddles would have to wait and sighed slightly as Johnny started unwrapping his head. ”I think I’m still bleeding where the shore is…well was.” he said simply with a slight sniffle. Actually, he was kind of bruised and bleeding everywhere right at the moment, but most of it was just scrapes and bruises, but his back was pretty bad he had to say with a slight look over his shoulder. Yes, that probably disturbed what Johnny was doing, but that wasn’t important at the moment. He didn’t want to bleed all over the other state’s couch after all.
