Any other time, he’s a good friend—the one who tends to listen to the rants of how much the world sucks, to be dragged into spending a spontaneous day out in God knows where, or even to be a D.D. around the city (before you ask, that’s a no…) Yeah, he might insert his dry commentary every once in a while and be brutally honest about things, but it’s not done out of malice. He just likes seeing people as they really are instead of who they present themselves to be. Just be yourself and don’t try to hide all the past dirty shiz. Be real and he’ll like you. On another note, this guy’s also into technology, shooting ranges, and late night bar hopping, but he’s also the type who enjoys the kind of satisfaction from a hard day’s work. He also has the whole ‘southern gentleman’ thing going on, but all pretenses are dropped the moment the other person starts acting like an ass. Don’t do it… and you’re golden.
[STYLE=color: #b4cdcd; font-size: 12px; letter-spacing: -1px; font-family: georgia;]enemies.[/style] Aside from appearing like an average guy, everyone has their darker, not-so-lovely side. Nate’s meticulous, manipulative when he wants to be, somewhat proud, and a bit of a wild card. His impulsiveness; however, always serves a purpose, no matter how erratic it might seem. He’s bound to have a few to fill this category. He expects enemies, but doesn’t get any odd joy out of having them. If the issues have to do with past events, especially if they’re resolved, then he’s bound to wonder why the hell they’re still holding a grudge. Nate doesn’t hang onto the past, because he’s aware that he’ll be nothing but a bitter old fellow about it in the end if he does. But he’s aware that others like to do this. So, he’ll try to tolerate these folks the best way he can.
[STYLE=color: #b4cdcd; font-size: 12px; letter-spacing: -1px; font-family: georgia;]loves.[/style] Nate has a bit of a hold over the expectations of a southern gentleman, though these days, that accounts for being a halfway decent person... For the most part, he’s respectful and polite, while still retaining that same fierceness regarding his beliefs. Nate, in a nutshell, likes to flirt and has a hell of a time doing it. He finds entertainment in turning up the charm, playing, and screwing with few strings attached. He’s never been one to sit still for another and commit to anything, but he’s not entirely closed to it either. No one has yet struck a chord with him to do so, so he continues to have fun and take life as it comes.
[STYLE=color: #b4cdcd; font-size: 12px; letter-spacing: -1px; font-family: georgia;]others.[/style] Nate considers the original thirteen like family (or, at least the closest that he’ll ever get to having one), as they’ve been through hell and back together, though these ties soon become complicated with later division and reconciliation. Family’s important; sometimes that’s all a guy has to lean back on. And Al, you’re just another complicated part of the story... [/style] |

[STYLE=width: 270px;background-color: transparent;][STYLE=font-family: georgia; font-size: 25px; letter-spacing: -2px; color: #b4cdcd; border-bottom: 5px solid #b4cdcd;]ALFRED AND NATE[/style][STYLE=padding-top: 7px; font-family: verdana; font-size: 9px; color: #abab; text-align: justify;]These two go way way WAY back, and have a nice roller coaster history to go with it. Not as bad as some of Alfred's roller coasters, but a roller coaster nonetheless. XD Obviously they started off on very good terms, and I think Nate was probably one of the ones Alfred was closest to.
Then the Civil War effed things up, and it took Alfred and Nate a long time to recover. The members of the original 13 who seceded hit Alfred harder than the rest. Gage probably hit the hardest because he was the first, but I wouldn't be surprised if Nate was second, just because of the long history they had together.
So yes...it took a while for them to build up their relationship again after the Civil War, though perhaps not as long as some of the deeper south states, I'm thinking.
Then, of course, we had our ideas for the Cold War, where Alfred finds a partner in his paranoia through Nate. =D
Also 9/11...
And I think that sums up most of what we've talked about?[/style] [STYLE=width: 270px;background-color: transparent;][STYLE=font-family: georgia; font-size: 25px; letter-spacing: -2px; color: #b4cdcd; border-bottom: 5px solid #b4cdcd;]LEE AND NATE[/style][STYLE=padding-top: 7px; font-family: verdana; font-size: 9px; color: #abab; text-align: justify;]Yes, it's technically Alfred...but I feel like he needs a separate category nonetheless. XD
I really like to think Lee himself played a part in getting Nate to secede. He wasn't actually in his own territory at the time, but I see him speaking through correspondence, sending a letter to Nate saying that Richmond could be made capitol if he seceded and sending a letter suggesting the same idea to the Confederate government. Kinda greasing the wheels even though he hasn't actually met up with any of them yet. XD
Obviously, they get along fairly well as well, though we never did play out what happens AFTER he finds out that Alfred and Lee are two sides of the same coin. =P[/style] [STYLE=width: 270px;background-color: transparent;][STYLE=font-family: georgia; font-size: 25px; letter-spacing: -2px; color: #b4cdcd; border-bottom: 5px solid #b4cdcd;]CHARLOTTE AND NATE[/style][STYLE=padding-top: 7px; font-family: verdana; font-size: 9px; color: #abab; text-align: justify;]Ah, these two XD They're neighbors, so I see them being on good terms. They also waited to secede until after action was already taken in response to Fort Sumter, which I think is a good pont to bring up. I see them definitely being good friends...and I can see them flirting as well, since I saw that you mentioned that as well. All in all, very good terms, and probably one of the people she's closest to besides her brother, mayhaps?[/style] [STYLE=width: 270px;background-color: transparent;][STYLE=font-family: georgia; font-size: 25px; letter-spacing: -2px; color: #b4cdcd; border-bottom: 5px solid #b4cdcd;]MICHELLE AND NATE[/style][STYLE=padding-top: 7px; font-family: verdana; font-size: 9px; color: #abab; text-align: justify;]These two are a little harder. The North/South thing obviously caused a few issues during the Civil War. Since they're not TOO close in proximity, I don't see them interacting insanely much either, although they'd probably interact more in modern times. Altogether, I'm not too sure on these two, to be honest. XD Generally she gets along with people pretty well unless she holds petty grudges against them, and there's only one REALLY petty grudge she has, and that's on Ohio.[/style] [STYLE=width: 270px;background-color: transparent;][STYLE=font-family: georgia; font-size: 25px; letter-spacing: -2px; color: #b4cdcd; border-bottom: 5px solid #b4cdcd;]LEWIS AND NATE[/style][STYLE=padding-top: 7px; font-family: verdana; font-size: 9px; color: #abab; text-align: justify;]Depends on how well Nate can handle the twins (since if he deals with Lewis, he'll likely deal with Louis as well). It sounds like he has a decent sense of humor and therefore would get along with the two decently, but...again, not positive. [/style] ...and I can't think of anything offhand for Mackenzie/Ottawa and Natalya/Belarus, but if you can, feel free to mention them in your response!

[STYLE=width: 270px;background-color: transparent;][STYLE=font-family: georgia; font-size: 25px; letter-spacing: -2px; color: #b4cdcd; border-bottom: 5px solid #b4cdcd;]ALFRED AND NATE[/style][STYLE=padding-top: 7px; font-family: verdana; font-size: 9px; color: #abab; text-align: justify;]Yes, they doooo. They're probably a bit too similar in the 'rebel' department and being told what they can and cannot do in general.. but it is what it is. XD Nate really feels insanely close with Al, being one of the oldest states and practically growing up with him when England decided to stop by and give him a name. But with that strong familiarity, Nate does feel a bit freer to say what he wants whenever he wants around Al. Unfortunately, that sort of falls into feeling free to do what he wants as well. So, the reigns need to be secure on this guy. =P
Civil War did eff things up. For sure. Nate came out of that with a lot of damage, but so did Al. And despite not feeling at all sorry for standing up for Southern Rights, he does feel a pretty substantial amount of guilt when he discovers Alfred's eh, 'state of mind...or being' for the majority of those years. Yeaaah, he didn't take that so well... =/
As for the years following, yes, I feel like things would have been re-established a bit quicker between them, probably more so because of Nate's location and how he's pretty damn close to D.C. in proximity Five minutes tops to get there. XD
Virginia plays a pretty good role in the nation's defense system (Pentagon!CIA Awesomeness) so yes. Thanks for spreading the paranoia, Alfred... Nate probably developed some nervous tics after that Cold War shindig.
God yes! 9/11. Even then, the shenanigans don't end, though. Hopefully Alfred's distraction was a convincing enough distraction... just saying. XP [/style] [STYLE=width: 270px;background-color: transparent;][STYLE=font-family: georgia; font-size: 25px; letter-spacing: -2px; color: #b4cdcd; border-bottom: 5px solid #b4cdcd;]LEE AND NATE[/style][STYLE=padding-top: 7px; font-family: verdana; font-size: 9px; color: #abab; text-align: justify;]Haaaaai Lee... You're awesome. But not so much after Nate finds out about your little condition, you ass!
Ok... onward. XP
I like that idea as well. Nate has his high demands and he expected them to be delivered. He needed to see some of these results in action; however, before he was officially going to jump ship. Overall, he was quite pleased with the fact that Richmond would be the up-and-coming capital. In return, Nate gave him a general as well. XP So, quite the beneficial relationship here.
Pffffffft yes. They do get along well. HOWEVER, personally, Nate does feel a bit betrayed that Lee kept that little piece of information from him. But that was towards the end, I believe? Couldn't remember when we placed that little scenario... [/style] [STYLE=width: 270px;background-color: transparent;][STYLE=font-family: georgia; font-size: 25px; letter-spacing: -2px; color: #b4cdcd; border-bottom: 5px solid #b4cdcd;]CHARLOTTE AND NATE[/style][STYLE=padding-top: 7px; font-family: verdana; font-size: 9px; color: #abab; text-align: justify;]Oh, the Carolinas... Virginia has his own brand of love for the Carolinas, especially North since she's his direct neighbor. So yes, I see them getting along well. They both have famous beaches, though Nate will teasingly tell her that his are still better... ;P They're pretty much on the same political terms and were close comrades during the war. Not too many complaints there. Nate's amused by Charlotte, so of course he will be a bit of a tease and a flirt with her. I see them knowing each other well enough to be comfortable with blurring the lines a bit between friends and beyond friends. Expect some late night calls. XD [/style] [STYLE=width: 270px;background-color: transparent;][STYLE=font-family: georgia; font-size: 25px; letter-spacing: -2px; color: #b4cdcd; border-bottom: 5px solid #b4cdcd;]MICHELLE AND NATE[/style][STYLE=padding-top: 7px; font-family: verdana; font-size: 9px; color: #abab; text-align: justify;]Yeah, I'm kind of along the same lines you are. They're not that close in proximity. Polite, perhaps even friendly, relations perhaps? That's how Nate will treat her most days, as I see them having more of that professional/distanced relationship, regardless if she still holds a bit of grudge towards him or not. XD [/style] [STYLE=width: 270px;background-color: transparent;][STYLE=font-family: georgia; font-size: 25px; letter-spacing: -2px; color: #b4cdcd; border-bottom: 5px solid #b4cdcd;]LEWIS AND NATE[/style][STYLE=padding-top: 7px; font-family: verdana; font-size: 9px; color: #abab; text-align: justify;]I agree. He's probably amused by them for the most part and won't care if they're up to any shenanigans. That's how he was when he was younger, soooo yup. XD [/style]

Leilani is easy going, energetic and adventurous. She loves dragging people out to have fun. Seems to me Nate likes to have fun. Fun…meet fun! In fact, Lani would love to drag him back to Hawaii for some surfing and water sports too if he was up to it.[/style] [STYLE=width: 270px;background-color: transparent;][STYLE=font-family: georgia; font-size: 25px; letter-spacing: -2px; color: #b4cdcd; border-bottom: 5px solid #b4cdcd;]RHODE ISLAND AND VIRIGINA[/style][STYLE=padding-top: 7px; font-family: verdana; font-size: 9px; color: #abab; text-align: justify;]Nate was a confederate state in the civil war. That automatically makes him second class to Reina. She tends to be more than a little on the proud side. She remembers and holds grudges. This means that she tends to be a bit of a bitch to the former confederate states because she remembers and takes pride in the fact that she was the first to answer her country’s call. These two are not likely to get along as a result in general. Her attitude would mean he’d be far from treating her like a gentleman…but if he did her proud attitude would disappear quite quickly. She is a sucker for a gentleman.[/style]

But yes... Nate loves anything to do with water. He spends half his time (whenever he has it) on his beaches, so he'd absolutely have a go at that! Who doesn't want to spend some time at her place? 8D He'll be the fun buddy and she'll provide the great waves and sunsets. ...Now I wanna go...[/style] [STYLE=width: 270px;background-color: transparent;][STYLE=font-family: georgia; font-size: 25px; letter-spacing: -2px; color: #b4cdcd; border-bottom: 5px solid #b4cdcd;]REINA AND NATE[/style][STYLE=padding-top: 7px; font-family: verdana; font-size: 9px; color: #abab; text-align: justify;]Virgi here is kinda split on Reina. He definitely does not appreciate her "holder-than-thou" attitude and wouldn't mind occasionally exchanging a few sharp words with her. However, being that they're both part of the original thirteen, he'd know her well enough to be somewhat used to these proud, snobbish tendencies. Regardless, they go far back and she's still a lady, so he'll still treat her like one... So, expect cordiality and overall gentlemanly behavior from him.[/style]
