Post by TORIS "LITHUANIA" LAURINATIS on Mar 17, 2013 18:10:45 GMT -5
YEAR: 1930
Toris felt at peace to be at Ivan’s house without the Russian present. He wasn’t sure where Ivan went and he didn’t care. All he knew was Ivan was gone and he had time to relax, but with the overlooking eyes of Ivan’s cat it made him nervous. He had multiple chores to do while Ivan was away. His tasks mostly involved cleaning and feeding Ivan’s cat who wouldn’t stop glaring at him. Something about that cat freaked the Lithuanian out. Maybe it was because this cat was a living creature and anything bad that happened to him Ivan would plan Toris. He shook his head trying not to focus on how much pressure taking care of a living creature was, especially one belonging to scary Ivan. He couldn’t keep a chill from going down his back just thinking about what would happen if the cat died on his watch.
He tied his hair back to keep out of his face while he cleaned. The first thing he had to do was feed the cat which he quickly placed the food dish on the floor after loading it up with cat food and yanked his hand away in fear the cat would try to bite him. “There. That should keep you busy.” He mumbled under his breath. This will keep the cat from stalking him for awhile. He couldn’t stand the cat watching his eye move for some reason.
Just a moment Toris glanced outside the building to see the snow fall gently to the ground as he readied himself to wash the windows. It would be beautiful if not for the fact Toris was forced here against his will. No time to be thinking about that. He finished washing all the windows, but by this time the cat finished his meal and watched him which only made him nervous. Toris tried to focus on his tasks ahead instead of the watchful eyes of the cat.
The next task was dusting. He quickly dusted around the house knowing each second passing was another step closer to Ivan returning and Toris being unable to take a nap or catch up on any reading. Toris finished dusting and went to cleaning up the dirty dishes in the kitchen. Half way done he heard a loud crash coming from Ivan’s office and turned pale. That didn’t sound good.
Toris dashed out of the kitchen, down the hall and into Ivan’s office with soapy hands. Ivan’s reading lamp on the desk wasn’t there, it was shattered on the ground. He felt light headed even more so to see the cat sitting on Ivan’s desk. The Devil cat wanted him in trouble! Toris ran back into the kitchen and returned to the office. This time the cat was near the broken lamp. “P-please go away!” He begged the fur-ball. When he went to pick up the pieces he clawed at him. He really did want Toris in trouble and to make matters worse the creak of the front door sounded.
“This can’t be happening!” Toris stumbled away from the office, gently shutting the door and the cat inside it. His heart pounded and sweat caused his forehead to glisten. His hands were still soap making the doorknob wet. He then ran to the front door where Ivan stood. “M-M-M-Mr. Russia! Welcome home. Uh…did you e-e-enjoy your time a-a-a-away?” Toris couldn’t keep himself from stuttering and then trembling fearing what would happen if Ivan found out. Surely Ivan would think he did it and if Toris told the truth, that it was the cat…he wouldn’t believe him.

She was one of the first four nations to join the Soviet Union, along with her older brother and older sister. Though she would be happy with a union consisting of just her and her two siblings, she was content to see the union expanding to include others as well. So long as she remained one of the more important members, of course. She considered herself second in command to Ivan, and wanted it to stay that way.
She was not happy, however, with Toris' presence. Once upon a time they'd gotten along well. More than well, in fact. They'd parted on a sour note, however, and remained on that note since. It was especially worse in the early days of the Soviet Union. In 1919, a merger was forced between Toris and Natalya for seven months. Natalya was absolutely furious, and did her best to make sure she let Toris know how much she resented it those entire seven months. Fortunately for Toris, Feliks was able to break him away from that, and soon thereafter Toris went off to work for America.
He was back now, though, and in a lesser position than before. Good, he deserved it. Admittedly, it was not his fault that Litbel was formed, but she felt the need to lash out at someone, and who better than someone that she already had a grudge against?
Natalya stood behind Ivan at the door. She arched an eyebrow as Toris stuttered even more than usual. That was suspect. Curious, Natalya brushed past her brother and Toris and ventured inside of the house. She was pretty certain that she smelled a rat, and she was determined to find it. She frowned, about ready to give up when she heard a meowing noise coming from behind a closed door. She proceeded to open the door, revealing both the cat and the broken lamp.
"Big brother!" She called out at once, bending down to pet the cat as she did so. She always did have a weakness for small animals (though clearly no longer for Lithuania, given that she was about to feed him to the dogs). "Come here! Something has happened to your favorite lamp." [/style] |

Ivan had reluctantly brought Natalya when he had gone out earlier, sometimes he really felt like she was a bit like a leech of some sort. He loved his sister, but not in the way she wanted, and desperately did not want to marry her. Though, that didn’t mean he was fine with just anyone marrying her in the fact that they had to be good to his sister. That being said, he didn’t think Toris was quite good enough for his sister, and thus disliked their forced union as much as his sister did. Well, alright he probably didn’t hate it quite as much as she did, but that was because she was actually the one experiencing it. Besides, he rather enjoyed the fact that she wasn’t okay with it despite it keeping her from trying to marry him for an amount of time. He did enjoy having her around, but there was an extent to which that was true. The nation did need his space, and she was not always very good at accepting that. The woman was vaguely terrifying after all, and carried around a knife for which to stab people or things. Anyway, he had taken her with him and was now returning back to his house which had been remodeled enough to fit all the people that needed to live there now.
Thus, he was returning and opened the front door when he was greeted rather nervously by Lithuania. Well, sure he was always rather nervous around the taller nation, but not particularly this bad usually. Oh well, he basically was going to just chalk it up to Liev staring him down constantly again. He had no idea why the cat felt the need to do that, but it was rather amusing to the Russian nation. Ivan moved from the doorway so that his sister could pass him into the house and watched her walk upstairs. Idly he wondered what she was up to actually, but returned his attention to the other nation in front of him. ”I enjoyed it a bit yes. It certainly wasn’t horrible this time.” he noted with a slight shrug of his shoulders and a creepy smile. It was only a few moments later that he heard his sister calling for him. He wondered for a moment what she wanted, but then she stated that something had happened to his favorite lamp. Ivan had a favorite lamp? He wasn’t sure about that, but sure he’d just go with it.
He wasn’t quite sure where her voice had been coming from, but he soon found her outside of his office petting Liev. Huh, he had wondered why the cat hadn’t come to greet him at the door, seeing as he usually did. Had he been locked in the office or something? ”Lithuania….did you trap my cat in my office?” he asked as he reached down to pet the purring Siberian. Really he wasn’t sure he so much cared about a broken lamp as the fact that his cat was possibly shut away in his office and not allowed to move about as he pleased. He was a cat, not a grounded child and was not to be treated as such. ”I suppose you can also answer what happened to my lamp too.” he stated with a slight frown seeing it shattered on the floor and hoping the cat hadn’t gotten any stuck in his paws while trapped.

The only thing Toris enjoyed about being under the Soviet Union was being close to Natalya. For just a moment Toris’ eyes lit up. How could he forget she went with him? Toris would be more happy for Ivan to return if he remembered. All the stress over making sure his chores were finished and the trouble with the broken lamp must have had an affect on his memory. He locked eyes with Natalya for just a moment and his turns turned a rosy color. This wasn’t the time to be admiring her beauty, especially when the meow came from Ivan’s office and Natalya walked toward it. Toris stumbled after her, but he never arrived in time to stop her from opening the door. The worst thing he could’ve done was lock Liev in the room along with the broken lamp. Of course the cat would cry to alert everyone he was trapped inside.
A wave of anxiety took over him again. His stomach screamed in pain as Natalya told Ivan his favorite lamp was broken. Ivan had a favorite lamp? Toris grabbed his stomach for a second trying to calm it before letting go. He looked inside Ivan’s office, feeling light headed when Ivan asked the questions. Toris never faded before, but he could swear he could this time with all the stress on his heart and the pike in his anxiety. What could he say to Ivan? The truth? What if Ivan didn’t believe him? Visions flashed of what could happen and none of them ended well for the Lithuanian.
He had to say something. Ivan stared at him expecting an answer. The lamp seemed to be nothing compared to locking Liev inside his office. Toris glanced over at Natalya. His body wouldn’t stop trembling and the chills and waves of heat caused by his anxiety made it difficult for him to focus on what he’d tell Ivan. All he could think about was the crack of the whip, blood and the sheering pain caused by the whip against bare skin. Toris couldn’t go through that again. He squeezed his eyes shut, trying hard to remain calm and say something to Ivan…something that wouldn’t get him into any trouble.
“I-I’m sorry…I didn’t know Liev was in there…and the lamp…I…d-d-don’t know what h-happened.” Toris avoided eye contact with Ivan and Natalya, staring at the broken lamp on the floor. It wasn’t Toris’ fault he had trouble looking someone in the eyes when he lied. Toris could only hope Ivan didn’t notice his tell. No telling where things would go from there if Ivan noticed. If Natalya noticed she wouldn’t tell him…would she? Another rush of anxiety came over him. He felt like he could throw up at any minute. Once again Toris made himself sick with worry and no telling if the sickness would go away or stay until he knew Ivan wasn’t too angry at him. He was taking this better than he thought, but still…Toris couldn’t risk it. The lies he told Ivan worried him too. Why did he lie? The truth could be just as bad as telling the lie.
(Happy you joined! Been FOREVER since I rped with a Belarus. Whooot! ^.^ Still need to work on Toris' template too. I’m a slacker. XD)

It was an exaggeration, primarily to get Toris to squirm. Toris still cared for her, but any feelings Natalya still had for Toris were buried deep under the grudge she held against him. Natalya wasn't one to give her trust easily, and when her trust was broken, it was that much harder to get it back. Unfortunately, Toris was a victim of this very circumstance, and the forced union between them several years before did not help matters at all.
A small smile came across her face at the sight of Toris shaking as they walked in. Her attention turned to Ivan, who she also noted appeared to be more concerned with his cat being locked up than the lamp. Oh well, regardless of what he was upset about, he was still upset with Toris, which meant that she succeeded in her goal. She looked down at Liev with a loving smile. She cared for Ivan's cat almost as much as she cared for her own.
Speaking of, Natalya watched as her own cat wandered into the room, letting out a hiss at Toris before she went up to Natalya and let out a small mew. Natalya smiled a rare soft smile and scratched behind Ruslana's ears. The cat clearly enjoyed it and brushed against her owner, while Liev still competed for attention from Natalya. Though she continued to indulge both cats, her attention was also on Toris and her brother.
She watched as Ivan confronted Toris about both the lamp and the cat. She could easily see through Toris' lie just by the way that he was acting, and she was fairly certain that Ivan would be able to as well. Toris was always nervous, but the fact that he seemed even more nervous than usual stood out like a red flag.
"I think he does know what happened, big brother." She offered, waiting to see what would happen next between Toris and Ivan.[/style] |

Ivan had heard the meow, but wasn’t sure where it was coming from until Natalya had opened the door to his office and let the cat out. Naturally the cat did not like being locked up in places, and really didn’t deserve it. He was quite a nice cat, but maybe he just didn’t like Lithuania quite so much. It was probably because the nation tended to act quite a bit like prey. Animals could sense such things, and so treated creatures how they acted. It wasn’t as if the cat had thumbs to open the door, and so alerted someone he was trapped. Some cats could actually open doors, but he did not quite have the right doorknobs for that to be possible. They were round as opposed to ones that had more of a handle that could be pushed down to open rather than turned. That…really wasn’t important though and he wasn’t even sure why he was thinking about it right this moment. Next thing you know he may start thinking about the possibilities of cats opening windows or some nonsense such as that. He needed to focus, and concentrate on what was important right at this moment.
Like the fact that he now apparently had a favorite lamp. Honestly, he really couldn’t even think of what lamp they could be discussing. He did have like five or six in his office that could have broken in some way or another. Well, that wasn’t true, the taller ones were metal, and the only thing that would break on them is the bulb rather than the entire lamp. So it had to be one of the smaller table lamps that were made of glass. Still, there were a few of those and so he wasn’t sure which one had broken. Yeah, he definitely didn’t have a favorite lamp and wondered idly if his sister was just trying to send the other nation into some sort of panic attack. That, admittedly, could be kind of funny actually. He wondered if her prodding would actually work. Naturally then Toris started talking and it really seemed almost too jumpy for him. Actually, it did seem far too jumpy for him, and while he did kind of usually avoid eye contact with Ivan, he wasn’t sure staring at the lamp on the floor was a sign of telling the truth so much. There was also the fact that his cat was fairly hard to miss, unless the door was only cracked and was pulled shut that way, Toris would have known the cat was there.
Ivan didn’t remember whether he left his office door open or simply cracked, but now he kind of wished he did for the sake of telling definitively if Toris was lying about not knowing Liev was in the office. It would seem that his sister also believed Toris to be lying and Ivan found himself raising an eyebrow. ”It’s possible, he does seem a little overly fidgety for something he knows nothing about.” he stated with a raised eyebrow.

Post by TORIS "LITHUANIA" LAURINATIS on Apr 10, 2013 14:57:54 GMT -5
Toris tried not to show signs of any lying, but it wasn’t easy seeing as his anxiety skyrocketed so high coming down from it would be nearly impossible. After all his face was unusually pale and he was sweating more than a pig sent to a slaughterhouse…well…if pigs could sweat. The hiss from Natalya’s cat only made him more nervous. It always seemed as though Ruslana hated him and Toris felt as though Liev hated him too. If you keep shaking he’ll know something’s up. He scolded himself while he once again tried to keep the trembling to a minimum, but focusing on not trying to shake only make him shake twice as much. He can’t stand the thought of being punished for something he had nothing to do with…although Ivan appeared to not be upset about the lamp more the fact Toris locked Liev in the office. Maybe that wasn’t such a good idea, but it was all he could think of on short notice and it wasn’t like he was going to keep Liev in there forever, just long enough to lure Ivan away and hide the evidence of the broken lamp and then let Liev out.
His eyes wondered over to Natalya. Part of him expected her to say something like this, but the other part of him held some hope that she wouldn’t point out how clearly worried Toris was about this whole thing. Toris closed his eyes for a moment trying to be calm down. He opened his eyes the moment he heard Ivan’s voice. They just knew he wasn’t being truthful, but could telling the truth could him into real trouble or could lying get him into trouble? No telling what direction the Lithuanian should take because to him, both could lead down a terrible…a horrible punishment. The fact that Toris wasn’t sure if he should lie or tell the truth added to his stress. He left very lightheaded as his anxiety took over him more. Toris was having a horrible panic attack brought on by his own imagination of what might happen to him. Sweat, overheating, shortness of breath and racing thoughts all came at once.
Although the wise thing to do would be to force past this feeling and tell either a lie or the truth, Toris couldn’t stay in this room anymore. He couldn’t be around Ivan any longer. The fight or flight instinct kicking in and causing him to think more of flight instead of staying there and “fighting.” Toris took a step backwards. His face extremely pale. It wasn’t a good idea to run into the other room, but he couldn’t figure out what else to do. He wasn’t always this afraid of Ivan and he felt rather sorry for him even today, but when in the face of everything that happened before fear really took over. He had rare times he’d be brave and stand up to Ivan for whatever reason…this clearly wasn’t one of those dares.
Without saying anything Toris dashed off down the hallway. Just where he was going, he didn’t know and he didn’t care. He’d ran outside if he thought he could handle the freezing cold. Instead, Toris found the room he shared with Raivis and Eduard and went inside, slamming the door shut and leaning against it as though this would be enough to keep Ivan from coming into the room. This was a bad idea, but given his panic attack he had to get away from the source causing it. People who never experienced these type of attacks wouldn’t understand how desperately Toris had to escape the cause for his anxiety and no matter how foolish it appeared, Toris felt he had no choice in the matter and how leaving would calm him down. It would take a lot more than getting away from Ivan for a little bit to calm him down. Actually…it became worse now that Toris showed major signs of lying.
No escape…maybe he won’t come after me… Toris thought to himself. He stayed up against the door, hoping for a miracle. Maybe Ivan would be too tired to do anything and Natalya could come to tell him everything’s okay now. Wishful thinking…but it might be possible. Toris wouldn’t mind talking with Natalya, but that’s only because of his crush on her.

Even if he were completely innocent, she'd still try her best to get him into trouble with Ivan.
Fortunately, Toris was making her quest a lot easier just with his actions. As it turned out, her brother seemed less upset with the broken lamp and more upset with the cat being trapped in the room. That worked out even better. Ivan surely cared for Liev more than he cared for a lamp in his office.
She smiled when her big brother confirmed that he suspected Toris of wrongdoing as well. Everything was going just as well as she thought it would, if not better, and she hardly even had to participate. Nevertheless, she did not mind making the occasional comment here or there. It would only serve as a reminder to Toris that she was not one to be messed with, and she would not stand for anything like Litbel again.
Even though, in truth, Litbel was not his fault either, and their grudge went back farther than that - to when their relationship failed many years before. Natalya harnessed a small flame for Toris still, but she kept it buried, lashing out at Toris on purpose in an attempt to keep him at a distance.
Natalya chuckled and rose to her feet when Toris went running out of the room. "He knows." She remarked to Ivan. Before Natalya took two steps toward the door, Ruslana was darting around the corner. "Good girl," Natalya smiled after her, again showing that rare soft side that usually only showed itself around animals and those that she cared about. Once upon a time Toris was included on that list. Now, however, the list was extremely short, her brother and sister at the top followed by only a few others.
Though she was eager to see what would happen next, she saw no need to rush. Toris would not get far, she was certain of that. Her brother's forces would not allow him to. Sure enough, he did not even try to go far. Natalya found Ruslana and Liev outside of the door of the room Toris shared with his own brothers, pawing and meowing at it. She would make sure Ruslana had an extra large feast tonight..[/style] |

Why Toris couldn’t just tell the truth and leave it at that, Ivan had no idea. Was it really that hard to admit he locked up Liev and broke a lamp maybe? Actually, it was possible the cat had knocked it over too, wouldn’t be the first time something like that had happened. He was a rather large cat after all, and sometimes tried to fit places he was a bit too big for. Ivan was convinced the cat thought he was the size of a tiny kitten rather than the size of some small dogs. Anyway, what exactly did Toris hope to gain from not just telling the truth? Unless of course he purposely knocked over the lamp then locked the cat in his office to try and shift blame. In which case, he would actually be in trouble because that was just not acceptable. Ivan also did not particularly like being lied to. It was rude, and the countries he lived with should know better by now. Apparently they didn’t, and he’d just have to do something about that now wouldn’t he? Though really, Toris looked like he was about to pass out from anxiety with how pale he was. It was kind of amusing really, honestly it should not be this fun tormenting his house guests, but he couldn’t help it at this point.
Then, of course, the other country decided to do something incredibly stupid. Running away didn’t make you look suspicious at all, nope not in the slightest. Naturally, the two cats followed him down the hallway too. Why they wanted to get the skittish nation in trouble he had no idea, but it really was all quite amusing to the older nation. Thus, he followed his sister and the cats down the hallway to Toris’s room. Well, that wasn’t a brilliant place to hide. Especially, considering he could just simply kick the door down. It wasn’t as if it was hard for the rather large nation, he was pretty strong after all. It also wouldn’t be the first time he’s kicked down a door. Though, really, he would probably make Toris fix it afterwards as part of his punishment. Speaking of punishment, he just had a really good idea for what to do about that. Leaning down outside the door, he scratched behind his cat’s ears before turning to his sister and giving a rather bright, yet creepy, grin to her.
”Sister, I feel that you should be the one to drag the truth out of him, and then find a suitable punishment for his lying and running away. After all, you were the one that discovered the broken lamp and Liev being locked up. I feel you will find a very suitable punishment indeed, but I am hungry and am going to go make Borscht would you like some?” he asked her simply while continuing the smile.
