When I look into all of your stupid faces
I think how fun it will be to pound them into dust
Hair: A very light, very soft blonde, verging on white.
Height and Weight: 5'7", 165lbs
Other Distinguishing Features: Besides his hair and eyes, Finland has a rather round face and round shoulders.
Overall Appearance:
Finland is by no means the most physically intimidating individual. With a 12cm height difference between himself and Sweden, Finland is the shortest of the Five Nordics. Like the others, he has blonde hair, though not quite as yellow as that of Sweden, and a set of violet eyes. Fairly skinny with a plump "moon face" and round shoulders, his strength stems as more emotional than it does physical.
Finland is somewhat effeminate in how he moves and carries himself - his body language often conveys a sense of panic and some intimidation around others; he often holds his hand or wrist behind his back with his feet crossed over the other, or tight against one another. It's often clear that he finds himself as the smallest in the room at any given time, and bears much resemblance to America.

Strengths:
Strong Core: So perhaps he's a worrier, and with his past, Finland can't really help that - but he does his best to keep it from really stopping him from doing anything if he has to. He has had a lot on his shoulders, but he never really falls completely on his face - though Sweden certainly helps.
Caring: Finland is an emotional person, and he wears them on his sleeve - that means, when he cares for someone, he'll do whatever he can to protect them. It's not just about standing up to the bad guy, it's about taking care of those who mean something to him.
Eagle Eye: Though he might not like fighting, nor even war, Finland has had to stand up for himself, and his people, on many occasions. Finland became a rather keen sniper - fitting into small crevices making hiding easy. He doesn't like mentioning it much, but if the need ever comes up, he knows what he has to do.
Quick and Hidey: When you're 5'7, skinny, lightweight and easily unnerved, you learn the best places to hide, and you get fast quick. 8l
Green Thumb: Them's some good lettuce!
Weaknesses:
Being Scared of Pretty Much Everyone: Yep. It's more or less the whole downside to being quick and hidey. You're scared of enough people, that you use it far too often.
Over-talkative: It's a defence mechanism - when he's nervous, he tries to talk as much as he can, find a common ground with others and seem a little more normal. It can weird others out - what do you say to an obviously nervous, verbally floundering nation?
Easily Surprised: He screams. Loud. And girlishly. No, seriously - even the Italian brothers would consider it feminine.
Fears:
Being Annexed by Denmark: He ran off to be with Sweden, and he loves it there. He's terrified he ever has to go back, especially when last time, it happened despite his protests. He can't stop it happening if it does.
Russia: Ivan's scary...And he's kind of crazy. He jumped out of a plane with no parachute, because "he's Russian". He also spent a lot of time in Finny's house during wartime, and took over for a good few years back when Russia had an empire. Took away all Finny's rights. Bad times.
Losing Sweden: Er...it's not like, that, it's just...Swe takes...good care of Tino. He's a really good friend, that's all.
Secrets:
Feelings for Sweden: He might not realise how poorly safeguarded a secret it is, nor how obvious it actually is, but Finland definitely harbours feelings towards the bigger Nordic.
Any Quirks/Habits:
Girlish Screaming: Every damn time he gets a fright...
Making Some Rockin' Fish Dishes: He's got great port access, so lets be honest, he's gotta have some of the best fish. And boy does he cook it good~
Rambling: So his funny stories aren't always that funny...more accurately, are rarely that funny, but give the guy a break, he's nervous and trying to make friends. Hug him. Hug him now.
Overall Personality:
You can't help but feel somewhat sorry for little Tino. It's not that he isn't tough; he can hold his own when he needs to, but he's had so many set backs and knock downs he's just not self-confident enough. Finland believes that he's just to small and powerless to make much of a difference - after being annexed and taken control of by so many different countries within Europe, being the shortest Nordic with language differences, and then starving for a year, only to catch the plague a little later, the guy's taken a beating.
That being said, Finland is a very caring soul - he just wants to get along with everyone. He doesn't want to fight nor argue, he doesn't want to have any sort of confrontation or emotional battles, he just wants to get along with everyone. He wears his heart on his sleeve - young, emotional, he's kind of simple, and despite being rather adult, prone to bouts of childishness. He loves celebrating, and spending time with those he cares about. He even comes up with festivals to mark the occasions.
There's a side to him that knows what he's capable of - he's had to fight before, for himself for the people he cares about, but he just can't bring himself to admit he's strong. Instead, he busies himself with fishing, taking care of Sweden, and spending time with Estonia, among other friends. He lives a simple life, and while he might be rather worrisome, it's only because he cares.

I'm the hero!
[li] Finland is Ice Age's last sheet of ice age - hunter gatherers settle; Finland is born!
[/li][li] Northern Cruscades - Finland is made part of the Swedish kingdom after running away from Denmark. Remains the case for many years. Finland is the agricultural guy, lots of farming and harvesting crops, while Sweden does the fighting and management work. Finland's happy with this role.
[/li][li] Protestant Reformation - Finland converts to Lutheranism and first books published in Finnish. University even opens! 8D
[/li][li] Finland suffers a famine, and goes hungry for a solid year. Malnutrition leads to weakened immune system, before being hit with the plague. Largest in Europe, a huge chunk of the Finnish population dies - Finland very, very sick.
[/li][li] War between Sweden and Russia breaks out, leading to Finland being taken to Russia's house for a few years, twice - The Greater Wrath (1714 - 1721) and The Lesser Wrath (1742 - 1743). Finland is scared of Ivan.
[/li][li] The Finnish War takes place, and Finland is once again taken off to Russia's house and made part of the Grand Duchy. Finland is sad.
[/li][li] With a national movement in attempts to stand for himself, the Finnish language begins to gain recognition during the 1830s and, with a big national movement, becomes a legally recognised language in 1892.
[/li][li] Finnish famine of 1866 - 1868, one of the largest in Europe - kills 15% of Finnish population. Russia is forced to relax regulations on Finland, as he's very, very sick. Leads to growth in investment and rapid economic growth & reform.
[/li][li] The Grand Duchy of Finland attempts to adopt National Suffrage, however, Russia moves to restrict Finnish autonomy, and entirely restricts Finland's rights and boundaries. Their already unsteady relationship worsens.
[/li][li] 1917 February Revolution in Russia causes question as to Finland's place within Russia. The two struggle to co-exist, and Finland eventually declares independence - Finland backed by the Whites (Social-Democrats) and Russia backed by the Reds (Communists). Civil War breaks out, and Finland is forced to fight for himself - however receives military support from Imperial Germany, and training support from Sweden and France.
[/li][li] The Whites eventually force their way through and defeat Russia, leading to the Treaty of Tartu in 1920. Finland is declared a Democratic Republic, and historic border is drawn - however with Finland gaining port of Pechenga.
[/li][li] Now independent, Finland's relationship strengthens with Sweden and central Europe.
[/li][li] WWII breaks out, and after their victory with the allies, Russia lays claim to large chunks of Finnish territory. Almost the entire population of these regions flee. Although never occupied by Soviet forces, Finland still deems it unsafe. Having such a small population and 93,000 dead soldiers, Finland had suffered the third greatest losses of the war.
[/li][li] 1950; Finland adopts industrial reform. Huge influx of Finnish people to towns, causing a baby boom and increase in population. When baby boomers enter the workplace, industrial demands cannot keep up, and Finnish citizens begin to emigrate to heavier industrialised Sweden.
[/li][li] Finland takes part in liberalisation of World Bank, International Monetary Fund and General Agreement on Tarrifs and Trade.
[/li][li] Finland declares itself neutral during the Cold War, however is also in the grey zone of the European Conflict. The YYA Treaty (Finno-Soviet Pact of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance) meant that Finland would hold off Russia's enemy forces should they have attempted to attack through Finland, though the Russian forces could go through Finland if the requirement arose. In return, Finland was not obliged to assist Russian forces if they were attacked from outside Finland, and Russia recognised Finland's desire to remain seperate of great power conflicts. Finland remained politically independent, and avoided any policies or statements that could be interpreted as anti-Soviet, allowing for a good trading partner.
[/li][li] Finland rejected Martial aid from America and it's allies during the duration of the Cold War, however was secretly gaining such through Britain and America, not wanting to upset the Soviets and cause uproar.
[/li][li] Finland builds one of the most extensive welfare states in all of Europe, prospering from trading privileges with Soviet forces as well as being a part of the Western market economy.
[/li][li] 1990 - Miscalculations in macroeconomic decisions causes banking crisis and economic collapse within Russia; Finland is dragged into deep recession for the next 3 years. After recession bottoms out, Finland witnesses economic growth for the next 10 years.
