Well, what's small to them may be catastrophically important to others—as in diplomacy and politics. Dirty work. Naturally, Nate looks to get away when he can from the government stiffs. White collars never really were his thing. He preferred his worn, soft Levi’s and a nice t or a casual button down any day of the week. Doesn’t mean that he also has his share of snazzy attire… but he’s not concerned with that at the moment. He wants a night out on one of his beautiful beaches. And it’s a great day to have one. The sun was hot, the breeze cool and light. Perfection. Nate had been out a lot since the days have been getting warmer. Even now, he looked it. His hair windblown and lightened by the sun, matched with his slowly darkening skin over the course of a few weeks. Yes, Nate loved the beach. He’d be happy living on one… preferably in a bungalow, though.
Sometimes it was always better to share days like these… but he had a bit of trouble with finding an available someone. Most of the states were either someplace else or too busy with work to enjoy a simple day at the beach. Eventually, he reached Jay’s number, one that his thumb hesitated over before dialing… Nate knew that days with the two of them together usually equaled some pretty bizarre shenanigans. Ah well. What did he have to lose? So, he phoned him up, was greeted in the usual Jayden way… and Nate finally invited him over about halfway into the conversation, which included things like work, what they’d been up to, and all that jazz.
Nate had called him a little after midday and he knew that it was about a six hour drive (give or take) from Jersey to Virginia Beach, so Nate settled on loading up the liquor for later and finding a few open parties on the beach. Ones that they could crash by the time Jay got his crazy ass over here. In the meantime, Nate lost himself in the open bar atmosphere while occasionally texting Jay the exacts of where he was at that moment if he was anywhere near. It's not like he could get completely lost, right? The area was close to an area where they had battle in the distant past, one which they'd all been present for... 'Yeah, remember that place where I got shot? Just head there and get on the freeway....' but that was somewhat awkward and Nate was still pretty sober, so he refrained.
The liquor flowed nicely. There were two crazy nightclubs in particular that were almost right up on the beach and even more open bar stands dotted along the stretch of sand. It was pretty well lit by the nightclubs with the murmur of constant chatter and the dull throb of music in the distance, while it was dark and hazy by the shoreline. It wasn't long before he had a nice, pleasant buzz going on. His eyes were slightly glazed and the alcohol flush was very light over his skin, all the while smiling into the random conversations with strangers as if certain mischievous thoughts were consistently running through his mind. Once more, after ordering a few shots, he set some aside for Jay, who really should be there any minute...
Flipping his cell open once more, he sent a hasty text. "Jay! You here yet?" Snapping his cell shut, he reached for one of the three shots lined up, his thumb sliding along the glass rim...

Drink! Drink! And we're up all night
Jayden was a bit surprised to get a call from Nate, but he was honestly looking forward to it. Too often did he hang out with his northern neighbors rather than his southern ones. One question he did have though was his mode of transportation. It would seem that today there were no convenient or available flights down there. Still, why the serious fuck did Jayden decide to drive to Virginia? Usually he preferred to fly and just take a taxi once he got there, but for a split second it seemed like a good plan. Ugh, he hated driving if he was being honest. He wasn’t sure whether it was because he had an issue with speed limits, or because he was easily distracted. Actually, it might be due to the fact that he honestly didn’t really have the attention span for driving. It got boring fast, even with music on, and he honestly didn’t like bothering with it. The only reason he owned a car was because he couldn’t walk to get groceries where he lived. He could feel his phone buzzing and read several of the messages with a slight laugh. He, of course, knew where Nate was talking about so he at least knew where on the beach he was going. After all, it wasn’t exactly a tiny beach so it was pretty easy to be in the wrong spot. Ah well, he’d figure it out once he got there by following the text message trail. It wasn’t as if it would be hard, it wasn’t his first time to Virginia after all. They had quite a number of silly adventures together.
He gave another yawn and found himself arriving in the right general area. Now he just had to locate the exact spot. Following the list of texts he took a walk through of the places Nate had been while waiting. He was following the directions basically like a map of sorts to figure out where the hell he was now. It wasn’t as if there were really all that great of landmarks around to make note of. Anyway though, he had just spotted Nate and was about to say something when he got another text message. Opening it and reading he had to stifle a laugh for a moment before heading up behind him and wrapping his arms over his shoulders. ”Actually, yes I am.” he said and gave a slight nom upon Nate’s ear for a moment before leaning his chin on Nate’s shoulder. ”Someone has been drinking. Now, what is it exactly we are going to do?” he asked simply with a slight smile and ordering a shot of his own. Hey, now he had to play catch up after all, just like on St. Patrick’s Day actually. He really did hope that Nate didn’t sober up when he finally got drunk though. That really was no fun, and he didn’t even get to play with anyone that night. Just got basically babysat while all he wanted to do was snuggle.

Much longer than necessary. But that’s just Nate. He preferred to take things just a little slower than some of his northern neighbors who all seemed like they would develop a hernia if they didn’t get to where they needed to be within the next so-and-so minutes. Alternatively, Nate was still a hell of a lot more urgent than some of his southern neighbors… He had a taste of both worlds and lived comfortably in the middle. This night, of course, was all about taking it slow. Nate wasn’t thinking straight when he sent his text messages, so it’s fortunate that Jayden seemed to know his way around pretty well… considering they’ve had these outings on and off throughout the years.
The blonde was slow to react to Jayden's arms around his shoulders. He leaned back slightly when he heard the familiar voice, prompting an easy grin over Nate’s relaxed expression. "Mm, I was starting to wonder...” His voice was low, the thick vowels drawn out from the warmth of the liquor. His breath hitched slightly in surprise when his ear was nomed. Not that he really minded that much… as Jay had a habit of doing that whenever he felt like it. The small spot behind Nate's ear in particular was sensitive, so he never could quite stifle the small shiver he got from that. Nate meant to teasingly nudge him back, but it wasn’t quite successful, only managing to shift back from where he was standing.
Turning to glance at Jay, the side of Nate’s cheek brushed against Jay’s when he rested his chin against Nate's shoulder. "What 'exactly' are we doing? I prefer spontaneity.” Nate teased him with an impish grin, downing another shot with elbows on the bar table. The burn of liquor felt heavy down his throat and it soon warmed his belly. Taking a moment to savor the growing buzz, he eyed Jay with subtle amusement. "I suppose that depends on you, darlin', since you did just spend six hours on the interstate…” Nate chuckled as he leaned closer to Jayden, his words lowering with playful intent. ”There’s a nightclub we can slip into… or we can stay out here. Either way, we’ll get you all nice n' liquored up.” Either way was asking for wayward behaviors from the drunk-Nate, as both places were livened with music, alcohol, or grinding from random strangers. The only difference was the lighting. ”Hmm… and meet up at the shoreline when it gets dark, perhaps...?” Leaning over, he mumbled close to Jayden's ear, mischievous grin still in place. "…when no one's around...” And then came the returning, small nip to Jayden's earlobe. Nate, who was probably not making too much sense with how much alcohol he'd already had, retreated just as he was ordering another shot. In short, he wanted to play.

Drink! Drink! And we're up all night
Jayden was far too easily distracted for driving to be safe for him or anyone else on the road with him. It just, was never something he had an interest in. Really he only learned for the simple fact of having to, but that didn’t mean he liked it. Nope, not in the slightest and so when he had to he was particularly displeased about it. That wasn’t important right now. What was important was the fact that he was going to go play with Nate. Yes, they still called it play, but it was now a slightly different type of play from when they were kids. Besides, Nate wasn’t so far away that it was an absolutely outrageous trip after all. Just a matter of dealing with idiots on the interstate was all. It was hopefully going to be worth it in the end, and besides maybe he’d end up staying for a few days rather than just a night. They could have all sorts of fun after all, and besides if the weather stayed nice enough they could roll around the beach a bit and just be drunk all day. That was always a good time of course. If there was alcohol involved it was sure to be a good time as far as Jay was concerned. People were far more likely to play when drunk rather than sober after all.
At last he had found Nate and, hearing the reply about him starting to wonder, gave a small smile. ”Worried I may have gotten lost?” he asked simply before nibbling on the blonde’s ear and getting quite the fun reaction. A tongue darted out to lick behind an ear before Jay returned to just leaning his chin on the state in front of him. Jay wanted to play just as much as Nate currently did, and kind of wished it would get darker faster. Hearing the reply of Nate preferring spontaneity, the dark haired state smiled. Well, that could always be fun, and Jay grabbed a shot off the bar before downing it quickly. Hopefully he wouldn’t take too long to get drunk today. It always depended on when he had eaten last of course, and today Jay couldn’t recall when or what he had eaten today. He assumed it was something, but at the moment he couldn’t think of what. Hearing the retort of it depending on him due to spending a nonsensical amount of time, to Jay anyway, on the interstate, Jay found himself grinning.
Pondering his options quickly about the night club or staying out here, Jay came to a decision and Nate started talking again about meeting up on the shoreline when it got dark and nobody was around. He could feel the nip on his ear and gave another grin. ”Nightclub sounds fabulous. I require movement, out here is too much sitting. Besides, we could always sneak off to a back room before it gets dark and then move out here when it does.” he stated with a slight wink as he cuddled himself up to the other state a bit more.
